A bit of good news to end the week.

This afternoon, The Queen conferred the Honour of Knighthood to Captain Sir Thomas Moore in a ceremony at Windsor Castle for his recent fundraising efforts.

Cheers Tom. Good work. beer

Fairly spectacular end to his life, fought in ww2, lives to 100 raises 30m for charity and gets a knighthood

Bloody excellent!

I do hope he didn't try any laps of the garden at Buck House though... Might take a while longer.

The focus on the amount raised overshadows the fact that some bloke at 100 decided to try to raise money for the NHS charities off his own bat. He then proceeded to push to raise 32M. That's pretty special by any ones measure.

(ignore the fact that the NHS probably looses that every day in efficiencies let alone the public sector as a whole)

Sir Tom. You embody everything young people should aspire to be.

It certainly is. That picture makes me smile.

That the Queen has chosen to personally perform the ceremony is just fantastic.

The NHS Charities Together is a separate organisation thankfully - the money won't disappear into a black hole, it will (mostly) be spent on projects to improve the patient experience, rather than directly on care.

She keeps a keen eye on the news, I reckon it was the most rewarding knighthood of her reign.

Agree.
100% she said she would be the only one who would do it!
