Likely limitations re: insurance for boat hire
Discussion
I’d like to buy a small rib-type boat at some point in the future and make it available for hire as a bare boat. However, having a look at existing hire outfits, it seems that insurance co’s seem to be imposing restrictions, ie will not allow their craft to be operated outside of harbours/estuaries.
Is this known to be a firm condition of insurance approval or a restriction imposed by the owners (mitigating risk, perhaps)?

I suspect the insurance company, but you could talk to someone like www.craftinsure.com and find out. I see they have a RIB section.
