Has anybody on here ever seen or driven a 997.2 GT3 or 997.2 GT3RS converted by Sharkwerks into a 4.1in the UK?.

I keep revisiting the idea although in my head and heart I know it’s a stupid idea.

But curiosity is peaked.

Anyone ? ?

There are apparently very few cars with it done. There’s one in Holland, the MD of Twinspark has got one

The idea of buying a high mileage car (have to be LHD as they seem to get used properly in Europe!) and doing this conversion has crossed my mind a few times. The reviews as I am sure you know OP are pretty stunning.

Interesting piece in Panorama 3 years ago. The cylinder wall gap is tiny, well below what Porsche did for the 4.0L RS

Interesting info ! This vid on Jay Lego’s garage is pretty good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7DjqGUKiao

I guess the ideal thing would be to find someone who knows their onions and ask the right questions on your behalf....well that’s what i would need to do.

Thanks for the replies.

I have read or watched pretty much everything I can find on the internet but wondered if anyone had one in the UK with real life feedback.

Thanks all

I listened to Matt Farah on a Podcast recently...they were talking about the 4.1. That’s where I got the info that very few had been built. Think that Dutch car may be the only one in Europe. I am sure if you send he guy a DM he may respond !

Rich people buy garage queens, so that means they are all oem down to the last nut and bolt and a set of 15 year old tyres !!!

Funny market GT cars, people will pay 2nd hand to own a WP RS at £240k when you can buy a RS for £165k add 20k and have a much much better car and put £50k in your pocket.

But it's not the latest most expensive toy so they would never even swap out a pzero tyre to a nice brand as it’s not about how it drives but what it looks like on the drive or at canine and machine meet up.

GT market today on any model is all about showing off sadly.

Given I will soon own one (an RS that is) - does anybody know if the Sharkwerks 4.1 has German TÜV approval?

I am not sure how much the German engine builders charge, but I think it is a lot (the 9.5k red line, 510 hp Wendland engine from memory was close to 100k when it was launched - full replacement engine, so keep old one as a spare, which I guess makes it still 60-70k?)
Manthey, 9FF, RS Tuning / Cargraphic a few others also offered 4.plus L engines at some point I believe - I remember seeing 4.1, 4.3 and possibly a 4.5 (might have been Flemke’s Manthey car, but can’t remember for certain)

Can’t remember where but I seem to remember listening to an interview and one of the things mentioned was that taking the Flat 6 beyond 4.0 is very difficult technically. Given the resources Singer and Williams have thrown at the DLS engine I think it’s perhaps telling that they haven’t taken that engine beyond 4.0.

Quite possibly the case, Porsche only now has a 4.2 liter engine - don’t think they had one in the past.

Would be rather annoying to spend a fortune on an engine build and then it blows up during track day season 1 or even worse somewhere on the autobahn.
