Currently with EE and happy with service etc.

They now offer home mesh system for £10 month for new router and disc (would add 2 more as our house is old and, more relevantly, long rather than square so need the range throughout.

Currently have a TP link as well as normal wi-if, works but annoying as often on “wrong” WiFi network as devices do not automatically switch to strongest network.

So mesh system solves this problem I think?

EE mesh I think is the same as BT whole home but pay monthly rather than outright (not sure if EE stop charging £10 after 18 months, if they do the price is about the same as buying outright.

With the BT one, one disc would have to be by current router (Ethernet), right? Or does it connect away via WiFi and re broadcast etc?

Also, open to suggestions of better alternatives, although reviews seem to indicate BT/EE quite good.

Same here. You need to find out if that rental charge is capped though. If you'll only ever pay 18 months and then it's yours then fine. Is it restricted to only being used with EE? For £180 I'd want the mesh setup to be mine and transferable

One disc has to be hard wired to your network, either direct into your router or downstream via a wired switch. The other discs then form a mesh to that one.

Thanks, that’s the bit that’s not clear with all mesh systems.

I suppose, therefore, the EE one is good as the main router is part of the mesh so the discs only need to connect wirelessly. Add 2 discs and would then have 4 wireless “points” giving better coverage...

Blurb says I own discs after 6 months. I would assume (but will ask) that after 18m contract is up, I go back to paying normal rate and not £10 extra indefinitely.

Gone for the EE smart wifi - a new hub and one disc.
Once delivered, I can request 2 further discs, so 4 wifi-points effectively, all one network.

£180 over 18 months, after that just renew contract but no need to pay £10 extra.

After x weeks I technically own all the equipment.

If it all doesn't work or give me range/speed I expect then I can simple cancel and go back to current setup.

Those are the minis, not the standard (and BT do a premium one too) so are lower spec etc.
