Tales of entitled people
Discussion
I’ve noticed a trend towards older people behaving in the most ridiculously entitled way. This article is an example anyone else got any more?
Used an ISP and their email address & service
Left the ISP and retained the email address
Now complaining that they should be able to retain it without paying! WTF.
And to top it all it’s because they can’t be bothered to change their email with their institutions. Apparently one of them looked into the logistics concerned ‘it’s just not something I would do‘ and the other one ‘can’t be bothered’ but still wants the company they no longer pay to provide access to their servers and support for nothing!
It’s a real piss-boiler as far as I’m concerned
Email charges: 'They've got you over a barrel'

How old are you OP?
I ask because I am trying to find out what you define as older people. I think the increasing sense of entitlement is happening in all age groups.
I am not so sure the example you give is the best example of entitlement. My parents are in their seventies and sometimes struggle to see the value in online or virtual services. They have no problem paying for physical items or services but often cannot understand the costs involved in what comes over the internet.

Agreed - it's prevalent in all age groups - everyone thinks they should get something for nothingI ask because I am trying to find out what you define as older people. I think the increasing sense of entitlement is happening in all age groups.

They not only believe a company should give them something for free... but that their own time is more valuable than the money the company would have to spend to service them for no return. What would they be doing with that time? f
k all most likely.
I’m 40.
I think the young are often accused of being entitled but in my limited experience it’s the older 50+ type of whinger that I more frequently see complaining about things.

Do you really think that providing email service costs £50+ a year?

There's already a thread running for the specific example cited in the OP.
As I posted on the other thread, my emails are with Google and Microsoft. I would be annoyed if they announced they are going to start charging me £90 per year.
Annoyed, then you would either pay or move on. As I posted on the other thread, my emails are with Google and Microsoft. I would be annoyed if they announced they are going to start charging me £90 per year.

As a business, what they charge is up to them. Their customers can choose to move or not.
If their customers don't like the price, but remain a customer that's their choice.
It's too much hassle to change the email address that he uses for all his various services, and he doesn't want to pay for the full service he has now, and the free service that BT offer is not good enough for him.....
hmmmmm I have zero sympathy. Either pay the price of the service you are using, accept the limitations of the free service if you don't want to pay, or move to another free service if both are unacceptable but that involves putting a bit of legwork in which he is too busy/lazy/important to do. Tough!
