A friend made a boo boo whilst driving...

It seems a friend of mine, whilst instructing a learner, happened to exceed the speed limit.

Whilst trying to encourage the pupil to not be afraid of speed, accidentally went over.

Pinged at 148 on the M4 into west London

That would’ve been a problem but it was made worse because the car then sort of happened to slow down, and then made a few moves through the back streets of Chiswick.

Parked up and knock on the door 20 minutes later.

Told the filth it wasn’t me:

Is it even remotely possible to reach that speed on that road at anything other than 3-5am which would seem a strange time to take a driving lesson

If this actually happened, I'd recommend speaking to a proper motoring solicitor. You'll just get a load of abuse on here, and the police are unlikely to just think "oh ok then, fair enough" because you told them it wasn't you.

I now have the image of a learner car with L plates blasting down the outside lane of the motorway with a wide eyed learner hanging on to the steering wheel while the qualified driver in the passenger seat is urging them keep it pinned

I would imagine if they go back down the route you have taken and check all the cctv and get a clear picture of your face.

In a st load of trouble I would imagine at those speeds.

Now if the police won’t put the effort in (I bet they darn well will for that speed) and they don’t get lucky with a clear image of your face (with all the cameras in London good luck with that) was hen you might be able to bluff it out and keep denying it.

Now have you deleted all the location data off your phone and satnav for a start. Got your alibi or location sorted and remember.

Frankly any Met officer reading this could have a check of the relevant CADs (from your description it sounds like you were spotted by a patrol car, who then pursued), look at your posting history and cross reference this post with their systems to confirm who you are, and if they were really keen, serve a DPA request on PH to get your IP address today. If it actually happened, you're probably not going to have a good time...

This is not good advice. Running the risk of perverting the course of justice merely raises the stakes. Besides which, there are other methods of attributing a vehicle and its movements to its occupants.

I think anyone who routinely refers to the Police as the filth has everything they deserve coming to them. I suggest you start putting some money to one side as the canteen and prison phones are expensive.
