Is it just me or are the up and coming drivers all really nice guys? And very talented? They all interview well (suspect they have media trained since they could walk but there we go), admit they are wrong and stick up for each other too....

Charles, Lando, George and Albon just all seem like top blokes, really nice IMHO to see them in the sport and I think their behaviour and attitudes will make F1 more interesting going forwards, not to mention the way they drive and race each other (firm but fair).

I think we have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.

Totally agree. The young Brits are looking quite impressive on all fronts and also do seem to genuinely get along when interviewed.

I agree they are all looking very promising.

Would also be interesting to see how Stroll could perform in the black Mercedes. Clearly he has some speed in the pink one

Max is in the same age group as them. His early move to F1 must have made him miss the charm and media lessons

Max was not mentioned in my list quite deliberately for those reasons..........

I think parental influence had much bearing on that.

Maybe you just dont have to be as aggrssive personality wiae to get noticed and progress anymore, and are all calmer for it? Dont know if you ever did need to be like that, but I'm sure many drivers wouldnt be where they are if you didnt have to get tough to overcome some obstacles.

I agree though, they are all genuinely nice. I think Max is too, but he's got a demeanor more likened to an older generation driver.

I always imagined, rightly or wrongly, that his Dad ran a very hard ass racing bootcamp for him whilst growing up, and that this is part of the reason.

Sure he’d do well in the red cow car too. Might show Max a thing or two.

TBF red bull do seem at times to pitch themselves as the "bad boys" of F1, which I guess fits the brand more than many other teams who'll be looking for a more professional/corporate representation.

But perhaps not as well if he got Albon's seat

Not many reasons for young Stroll to want a RB or Ferrari drive hehe

Could you be suggesting little Max’s seat has some advantages over his team mates ? Surely not smile

Agree. They all look genuinely happy to be F1 drivers and understand social media, unlike some of the older drivers. They are all also very good at the driving element!

They were great F1 ambassadors during lockdown with their eRacing as well. Definitely a great move to engage the next generation of audience. My son (17) is getting into it at last!

I really liked Russell's interview yesterday if I'm honest. Recognised the knives were out for Albon and stood up for him properly which made a really nice change for the staid, overly-PR'd interviews that you'd expect.

All of them seem pretty confident in just being themselves and it comes across in what we see either in interviews or on social media and they're all supremely talented. I bet if they all had the same car the championship would be a proper toss up challenge between Russell, Norris, Leclerc, Albon (and Max too of course but he's a bellend).

That would be incredible!

Extending the fantasy...
Cars with friendly aero, reduced bhp/$$$ engines, no DRS & sort the tyres out.
Reduce the season and only head to driver favoured circuits, reduce points back to 10 and down?
Wrap the whole lot up in fan orientated, mainstream media, tie in with eSports and give 'Drive to Survive' extra access!

A broken seat at Silverstone didn't seem to bother Max biggrin

He did seem to have received better driving lessons though. Which no doubt is the reason he moved to F1 half a generation earlier than his peers.

Besides the fact that I have the impression that there is some bias involved here. Because Max seems to be a very level headed, open and honest guy.

Although I realize that honest opinions do not always land well with people having dishonest intentions.

The only two things I can think of are daddy Stroll's Ferrari collection and his money counting machine.

Besides that Max is on a different level and the only driver able to make life a little difficult for Mercedes.

But that's probaly the annoyance. biggrin

For my 30th, my sister decided to write to all the F1 teams in order to surprise me with any trinkets they could offer.

Most F1 teams ignored her.

Mercedes sent her some postcards, thanks Mercedes!

McLaren went one better and sent her (me) a personalised letter wishing me a happy 30th and sent some genuinely autographed cards. I think McLaren have got their PR absolutely perfect for younger folks. I nearly shed a tear when my sister presented me with the McLaren gifts as I was touched by both her efforts and McLaren's too. Top marks to McLaren Racing.

As a result I've bought some McLaren merch (having never bought any F1 merch before!) and the Papaya Orange cars are now my favourites. My neighbours could hear me cheer Lando's P3 the other week!

I like that. It demonstrates a good attitude from him and really helps promote the team as one. I've seen some of the previous McLaren drivers first hand at Woking a number of times. More often than not, they didn't give the employees a second glance.

Helping them a little like that may teach him enough about the car to give an edge to his driving too.
