Current situation is I have a MK1 fabia vrs remapped to around 180bhp. It's coming up to that point where things are starting to fall off it as it's at around 160k miles. Looking to get something a bit nicer to replace it.

Main criteria are:

4-5k budget (could stretch for the right car)
Needs have at least as much oomph as the old pd lump
Ideally not going to bankrupt me on insurance as I'm 22
Would like a hatchback, but would be ok with something bigger
My commute is around 7 miles each way on b roads so doesnt need to be that smooth of a ride.
Most importantly, needs to be interesting. (main reason I've not just got a golf)

Current cars I'm looking at are:
bmw 130i (or other i6 beemers)
fn2 Civic type r
alfa guilieta veloce
clio rs200

I would also be open to any suggestions really, nothing agianst old barges either if they're interesting.

Thanks guys

If you'd like an interesting hatch the the Focus ST with that sweet five pot gets my vote:

330i M Sport I rate these as a better overall car than the 130i they handle in a very similar way

335i SE now do your checks but this could be a great buy

130i This one seems very cheap for what it is but do your checks & you may bag a bargain

A slightly forgotten car is the 3.2 A3 basically Audi's version of the R32

The Giulietta Veloce is a great pick with a nice mix of newness & pace

In the same vein the Astra GTC in 1.6T SRI 180 is a nice pick

Some cracking suggestions there! I personally like the sound of the C30 T5, although it's a shame that one's been garried a bit.

Cheers guys for the replies. Yeah the C30 was not something I had even thought of, very interesting. Thinking I might go have a look at that 130i hopefully it's in good condition. Any feelings on if those are good as fast hatchbacks? I'm between the 130 the C30 and the honda. My first car was a 2.2 prelude so I know how fun the engines can be in Honda's, just like the idea of something a bit gruntier for the occasional long journey. (Will be doing Berkshire to Fife a couple times in the near future). I also do like those 3 series I'm just also quite liking the idea of something a little smaller

Called and the 130i is gone, Found this mito closer to me.

Can anyone see anything wrong with it? I'm aware you can get cheaper ones but it does look to be in a good colour/spec combo. Cheers again for any advice

It looks like it's had a headunit upgrade too so that'll be a nice bonus, yes you can get them cheaper (but not really at the moment) so I'd use this one as a nice fillet to help with negotiations wink

Where I source for people I have certain searches saved so I sort of just go to them & most people are searching for similar things.

That is was very cheap indeed.

Pictures angled to avoid the drivers seat - they wear badly in that colour - but thats a £60 fix with a Gliptone kit and an hours work.

These are not far above your budget now.

I just bought a fiesta st but I did look at the 208 and had a test drive. At the time I thought the drive was a bit ordinary although it was undoubtedly quick. On reflection I kind of get it. Compared to the fiesta it’s probably a better daily as it’s more relaxed and easier to live with. I’m very happy with the fiesta as I don’t really drive it daily and it really is great fun. But obviously they are more money than you want to spend. At that price point I think the Pug makes a bit more sense.

Just to update, ended up buying the mito I linked. Anyone able to reccomend a good exhaust to replace the standard one? It's a bit rusty so a good excuse to get it singing a bit louder

Get a K&N direct replacement filter which will add some nice induction noise as well as a bit of wastegate flutter & then find a local exhaust fabricator to make you up a nice 2.5 inch cat back system which will add to the aural niceness & means if you have any issues you have someone local to go back to.

Gald you got sorted OP
