Hi All,

I am currently looking at replacing my monitors with a single ultra wide monitor , the main features I am looking for are:

- Anything 38 inches or above
- KVM switch
- Suitable for both Windows and Mac
- PBP/PIP support

I've narrowed it down to 3 displays which is the LG 38WN95C-W, Samsung C49RG90 and the Dell U4919DW. The majority of my usage will be for productivity with potentially a small amount of gaming in the future. Does anyone have any particular recommendation of which monitor to go for or should there be another monitor I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance!

No real info on those monitors, but most if not all of these will require DisplayPort to be run at their resolution, so keep that in mind when looking for a KVM.

Or USB-C, which the Dell ultrawides support, works great with a MacBook Pro, supplying power to the MacBook through the same cable

Edited to add that the KVM feature on my Dell 3818DW works by having two USB-3 input sockets which switch input along with the monitor (note: 4 video inputs, two USB-3 inputs plus USB-C which also drives the USB outputs, although only at USB-2 speed as far as I can tell, which would be OK for K+M). The switching between inputs is slightly awkward (at least compared with the 6 input buttons on my NEC 4K monitors)

Both my windows laptops have either USB or displayport connections. My 2020 Macbook air has a USB-C` connection so that will be ok as well.

Do you mean HDMI and Displayport connectors? That would be fine with the Dell Ultrawides, which have two HDMI ports and one DP as well as USB-C

I don't think HDMI will do that resolution?

I know that it does smile. Bit of a waste of two HDMI input ports otherwise. On Windows it comes up as Display Resolution: 3840x1600 (Recommended), on GTX 750Ti and GTX 970 graphics cards

Just checked and indeed it does depending on the HDMI version.

I do remember having a screen that could only do 1080p when using HDMI, vice versa a laptop a couple of years ago that could output no more than 1080p via HDMI.

Good point - the laptops will need to output an HDMI 2.0 signal
