The "new" katana
Discussion
Article I read said 120 miles and starting to look for fuel at 90. It would be nice to hear from someone who has real world experience.
Personally I like them and there are very good deals to be had. My Tuono only manages 100 miles before it runs out! I have a 750 Pop up so am a fan of this type of shape by default.
I'd like to see them bring out a hotter version, with all those unsold units they need to bang on some Ohlins, bigger screen, lower bars and other goodies to differentiate it sufficiently from the GSX it's based on and tune it so it's more faithful to the original one with some more attention to detail. Some parts look really wrong, like the high bars and brake reservoir sat really proud on one side.

Its 12 litres so 2 1/2 gallons, I get around 37mpg from every litre bike I've owned, that would mean having to think about where to get fuel after 70 miles on the Katana with a 20 mile buffer, its a bit sPersonally I like them and there are very good deals to be had. t really if you were out in the sticks, I'm sure if you were out on your own it wouldn't be a major issue but when you are out with others who's tank ranges average 130-140 miles its going to get tiresome.Edited by Jazoli on Tuesday 21st July 15:06

Yeah one of my routes that I like to do regularly is about 100 miles as a loop, and only two petrol stations pretty much at the start - I'd have to fill up next to home, ride the 15 miles to the next station, top it off again, then stop again at the end of the route.

I had one for a few weeks last year at the same time as a Honda CB1000R. I know the CB1000R doesn't have quite the same retro appeal, but it handles miles better than the Katana, which felt like a wobbly old thing. The Katana also felt a bit cheap, and I'm not entirely sure I get the hype behind its engine either. I'd get a CB1000 – but I'm definitely to young too be in the Katana's target audience.

Those old enough to remember the original Katana may need a toilet stop at 80 miles anyway?Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
