Hi Everyone,

I have never done one of these threads and not sure if someone can help but I have a 2.0 TDI DSG Mk7 and I have gone on a long journey over the weekend 200+ miles each way and on both legs of the journey I had an issue with my ventilation system. I have had this issue once last summer and it has cropped up again now. doesn't seem to happen when driving around town or on short journeys.

I have a Golf Match with a normal Air Conditioning system. No special climate control or anything like that. Jut three knobs, one for temperature, one for fan speed (1 - 6) and one for vent location. I was driving at speeds of between 50 - 80 mph for most of the journey. The fan setting was on 3 and cooling the car perfectly and then all of a sudden, the air coming out became really weak and even if I have it on 6, I can hear the fan motor being loud but not a lot of air comes out of the vents. I also tried it with the A/C button on and off but the issue persists. I turn the whole system off for a while and open the windows and when I turn it back on it works fine. Gave me the issue once on my way there and twice on my way back.

I usually drive the car in Eco mode but read online that it does something to the A/C to ensure the car is as efficient as possible but I drove half the journey in normal mode yesterday and the issue didn't go away.

Can someone please let me know what I can try before I take it to a garage and spend a lot of money on all the diagnostics.

Thank you

Sounds like the evaporator froze up. Check for blocked filter, blocked evaporator drain and low refrigerant pressure.

Thank you for the reply. I know how to check the pollen filter but not sure how to check the others, please advise!

Do you notice a puddle underneath the car, roughly around the dashboard area, after running it with a/c on for a while? If yes, the drain hole is probably ok.
Refrigerant checks (along with relevant systems tests such as the evaporator temperature sensor) will need to be done by an a/c specialist or a garage that has the equipment to do so.

I have not noticed a puddle on the floor, I just checked the pollen filter and it is a bit dusty but does not seem blocked. I turned the AC on and it is cooling very well on the drivers side but the air coming out of the passenger side is not as cold and the outlet by the passenger window is weaker. would this be a sign that the Air con needs a service?

Yeap, that's another sign of low gas charge.
