Wotcha Team,

I am the most ham-fisted klutz in the world when it comes to soldering, it's true

BUT

I can't, for the life of me, understand why the Hazard Warnng Switch has SIX teminals on it
when its function only requires the use of two.

As you know, the size is very specific in order to fit within the confines of the end of the Indicator Arm.

Sooooooooo, does anyone know of a Switch which will fit into the arm
but doesn't rquire the delicate touch of a Brain Surgeon to work with (namely one which only has two terminals ??)

Ooops and don't forget the thread of the alloy button cover.

Sorry to disturb bow

No can't help you in your search for a new one, however. I'd say you need a hotter soldering iron, tin the wire, tin the terminal, then using the soldering iron on both melt together. A solder sucker will save the switch.

RS would have one, but you need to know size, markings etc

I've got my car in today, I'll pull mine out later and see if there's anything written on it.

It has 6 pins because it has two internal switches, each with a changeover contact. Usually the middle pins are the common wiper connection and the two outer pins on either side are the normally open and normally closed contacts. You can use either middle pin and connect the other wire to one of the outer pins in the same row. Worst case scenario is that the switch works back to front, in which case swap the outer wire from one end to the other.

It looks like a bit like Panasonic ESB30, see here:

You need to get the latching, or self locking type, as opposed to the momentary contact type.

Hi Paul.

Out of interest, will those pins take a 2.8mm female crimp terminal ?

You can buy them fully insulated,, if you’re worried about catching other pins.
