G.fast broadband
Discussion
I have just signed up with my broadband supplier to upgrade to a new fibre package with speeds up to 138Mbps with a guaranteed sped of at least 110Mbps.
(Currently on FTTC with speeds of up to 78Mbps (actual speeds lower))
An Openreach engineer is booked to come next week to make the upgrade.
Doing a bit of research leads me to believe the new package is likely to be utilising G.fast.
Can anyone please explain what changes the Openreach engineer will need to make and what additional equipment (if any) will be needed?
Anyone using G.fast and care to share any feedback?

I went from DSL to G.Fast at the end of last month. The OpenReach guy switched over the front plate of the master socket, the new one is quite a lot fatter so I'm assuming it has filters built into it, and left an OpenReach-branded Huawei modem.
I connected the modem to my existing Fritz router (I'm with Zen), did a bit of reconfiguration and that was it.
G.Fast is still FTTC with the last hop being done over your existing copper line, I went from about 75mb on DSL to a max line speed of 260mbit on G.Fast but I'm only paying for 150/20, so 150/20 is what I get.
