New build house EV charger
Discussion
3 phase gives you more options if you want to "go large" with solar.
You can put a solar array on one phase (say the one that supplies the domestic load) or all three. As far as your house is concerned, it will be likely running off a single phase - your garage will have all three for machinery. A solar array on the house is just like any other installation.

Single phase car charging is limited to 7kw or so, 3 phase is usually 11-22kw depending on the vehicle.
I think 3 phase makes it trickier for solar etc tho.
Here in Switzerland 3 phase is the standard to go into the house. It then is converted to the 'standard' 220V needed by most appliances. Hence you effectively have both options and it all depends where you connect things.I think 3 phase makes it trickier for solar etc tho.
Very few EV owners seem to have wall boxes here as most think that 3 phase is sufficient.

Could get away with it here on a single phase but I wouldn’t want to risk not having the grounding rods etc or the class b breaker
What do you mean having the grounding rods or class b breaker? An earth rod is a £20 bit of kit.
A B curve RCD is £40.
Neither of the above will give you the plus points a 3 phase supply will give you charging a EV?

Nor would it be legal (within building regs)An earth rod is a £20 bit of kit.

I’m going to speak to the developer to ask the dno how much extra if any it would be to install 3 phase
