Zx7r Whos had one?
Discussion
I had two ZX7s ‘back in the day’ and a ZXR750J1 which were used everyday.
They are heavy, steering is a bit slow, they are a bit slow nowadays. But very stable, ‘solid’ quite roomy, simple to work on and didn’t go wrong, and I remember them all being well made.
Green ones are faster as any fule no, and there’s something about them that makes you smile.

I have 2 ZXR750's (L/M) I think they are fantastic! I find them roomy, comfy, I don't find them overly heavy or unwieldy, I actually think they are incredibly stable and make a great road bike.
The sound is intoxicating and for a road bike they put out plenty of bhp. I also have a 190bhp MV F4, which is far quicker and more agile as you'd expect, but with the ZXR it has that feel good factor in that you can wring it out and have fun without trees flashing past you at light speed and being on permanent speed check.
If you like them, get one, I doubt you'd regret it and you have nothing to lose as their prices have stabilised and won't be dropping any more. They are really well made, just make sure you buy a good one, there are many still about.

My mate had one, he was a few years older than me, so when I got my first big bike I went out with him a fair bit. Amazing bike. He's not had a bike for a few years (must be 15 I think!) and is looking at getting back in the saddle and still to this day regrets getting rid of his. It was a V-Reg in Green.
Had a P5 in Black/Silver and commuted 30k miles on it through all weathers. When I sold it still looked mint.
Legend front end handling. A stretch to the bars, I got too old and couldn't deal with how heavy on the wrists it was, try before you buy.
They run better standard, I had +4 ignition advance and a jet kit with a full Akrapovic, it still wasn't as smooth as with a stock pipe.
They are well made, nothing ever went wrong. They look great and make a great noise..

I had new one in 1998. The red/purple combo. Kept it for 2 years & 10000 miles, replaced it with an R1.
They are a great bike (....from memory :-)) ), it was a big bugger, hefty, the tank is huge. It went well enough, I had mine jetted & a Yoshi can went on. The handling was good, very stable, I tweaked the suspension & lifted the back end to get it turning a bit quicker (involved washers under the shock mount I think?). I still think they’re a great looking machine, I wasn’t particularly drawn to the classic green ones, red for me. R827 AAY Is hopefully still out there & being enjoyed.

Still got mine and still love it!
By all objective standards my brand new 899 Panigale was a much better bike but that's gone and the ZX7R is still here.
Much nicer road bike in my humble opinion and I've always just loved the looks

I had one from new back in 1996. I remember seeing them at a bike show just before Christmas 1995 and ordered one there and then, in green with purple wheels
. It was registered on 1st Feb 1996 and delivered in the back of a van because of heavy snow. It must have been one of the first ZX7R's in the UK. It certainly attracted a lot of attention. The induction noise was amazing and as a road bike, I thought it was great. They weren't the lightest of bikes but I think that helped with the handling because mine always felt really secure on the road. I always thought they were really well made too. It felt like a quality bike.
It was quick too
(back in the day). And with a Micron Can which I fitted later, it did sound good. According to gov.uk the MOT expired in 2017 but with a recorded mileage just short of 11,000 miles so it looks like it had a pampered life after I sold it. I owned it for a couple of years and covered around 4,500 miles during that time.
