Thinking of getting MGB GT
Discussion
The first place is the sills, beware stailess cover sills, feel along the inside off the sill through the carpet, check the castle section that runs under the sill. The sill ends are hidden behind the back wing and frint wing so check around the wheel arches. mechanicals are all easy to fix and get hold of spares.
I've had two. I bought them when funds were in short supply (just bought first house/made redundant). Absolutely gutless performance and handled like jelly on a stick (especially the rubber bumper version). Quite pretty, but this is a car designed in the early 60s using the technology of the late 40s by a company renowned for it's conservatism.
Be prepared to be overtaken by milk floats
And they rust like there is no tomorrow.
As someone has said, buy a 70s TVR for the same money.
It's far better VFM.
A Lotus Excel SE is a far better car for the same sort of money too.
