Hi all.

I bought the above bike at the end of last year and due to a few commitments I’ve only just started to use it.

Love the bike, apart from the brakes.

I haven’t experienced the well documented ABS issues, to date at least, but I simply don’t like the brake feel, and the lever travel gives me very little confidence.

On any other bike, a set of new pads, braided lines, new fluid, and perhaps a Brembo RCS would sort the job, especially given the standard Brembo M4 Calipers. Not so straight forward on an ABS Blade, given the overly complicated bleeding procedure and potential operational issues even when bled correctly.

I don’t want to remove the system completely, but what I would like to do is cap off the system at the headstock, linking the feed from the ABS pump to the Caliper return line, and run a set of lines directly from front MC to front calipers, avoiding the 15 pages of bleeding instructions from the Honda manual and allowing easy system changes.

Anyone done anything similar?

Yep, I did exactly that.

Removed the ABS lines from front and rear blew the remaining fluid out and put some tape over the ends.

2 new lines from front M/C to calipers (both Brembo) and a new rear line from M/C to caliper.

Its a simple job.

Exactly this. I'd remove the ABS gear and save 10kg myself.

I'm surprised this even comes up?
