ETron collection tomorrow - 200mile first trip!
Discussion
I am finally collecting my launch spec 55 Etron tomorrow and on Monday morning I have to go to collect some documents from Harwich from Surrey so thought I would take it.
It is 99.8 miles each way so should be absolutely fine...
I would like to try a charge out on it and I go right past the BP at Chelmsford which has 150kw chargers. Can I use the polar charger there or do I have to sign up?
This is a second car so I will usually be charging at home and the office so wont often need to charge when out. There is also another 50kw charger close to my destination and this is a tap and pay type.
Will post some pics up when collected

I don’t know what advantage the 2020 update confers in “real world” terms but with a 2019 55 I would say 200 miles is borderline for a long distance round trip unless you’re really good at sticking to 70 or below.
I did a 270 mile round trip this morning, knew I would have to stop regardless so “pressed on” and gave it a 24 minute charge at Ionity MK, got back with plenty more range than I needed, so if I were you I would aim to make a quick 150kw charge just to give you the peace of mind and flexibility in how fast you want to travel (I was dropping at an airport so had to get there promptly but had plenty of time to stop on the way back).
Polar isn’t covered by the Audi scheme I don’t think, so I would personally download the app and setup an account, they are giving the first 3 months subscription free. I think you can also pay “PAYG” at a higher rate but would be worth checking on zap map for that particular charging station.
This morning was the first time I used 150kw and it was impressive. 11% to 80% in 24 minutes. I actually wished I had used one of the 50kw chargers on-site so I could have had a snooze, but if in a hurry it really is effective.

Many thanks for the info, I think I will go with that and do a charge on the return. It looks as it can PAYG on that charger.I did a 270 mile round trip this morning, knew I would have to stop regardless so “pressed on” and gave it a 24 minute charge at Ionity MK, got back with plenty more range than I needed, so if I were you I would aim to make a quick 150kw charge just to give you the peace of mind and flexibility in how fast you want to travel (I was dropping at an airport so had to get there promptly but had plenty of time to stop on the way back).

The 2020 model has a WLTP of 250 miles so we shall see how we get on and will let you know!
Hi
Hope you enjoy your new toy, SWMBO has a 50 S line. Beautiful car and a real head turner.
First tip, make sure you set yourself up a profile on zap map with your car; change real world on the trip planner to 200.
Have this on your phone as well.
Always check the chat for a charger to see if there are any recent issues and confirm payment options, have 2 options for any long trip.
Second tip, Charge locally first time on a rapid, purely so you get used to it.
Third, don't plan to use Ecotricity chargers at motorway service areas; it will ruin your EV experience.
Lastly make sure you check the app before you leave, the boss is always getting messages telling her it's unlocked or not charging when it clearly both are the opposite.
If hot day, pre cool the car when plugged in, same the other way when we get to the colder months.

Great, thanks for the tips, have checked this out and there is a 50kw charger right at my destination also so could use that too.
Collected the car today, however as I arrived and saw it come round the corner I noticed they have ordered black leather interior over the grey on the order from! If you can believe it they missed it on not just 1 but the 2 we purchased for our company. They have offered to replace it or offer us a refund of 1k. Not sure on what I am going to do yet but unsure of letting them retrim the inside and 1k is not enough.
Anyway some photos, looks great and looking forward to getting use to it

What a balls up...
I agree I wouldn’t want a re-trim nor is £1k enough to compensate.
I wouldn’t want to outright reject either given the long lead time for another one, unless you can come to an arrangement where you can run these until they arrive
Did you do your long trip? A 50kw destination charger is certainly convenient

As others have said, check the full spec. Just download the app and it shows it on there.
Re the car, personally I prefer the black interior but appreciate that is not what you ordered, and on a car this expensive you really shouldn't be accepting anything less. Maybe a set of winter tyres and alloys as a goodwill gesture from the dealer ???

Thanks for the replies. I am negotiating with the dealer and we are going to get something more substantial it seems. The rest of the spec is as ordered.
Today I did the trip. Left on a full battery and arrived 100 miles later with 136miles left. Didn't particularly try and be efficient and drove as i normally would. On arrival I was going to charge up but decided against it as needed to get back. Arrived home with 35miles range even though I pressed a little harder on the return.
The stats say 2.5m/kwh for 198miles. I'm sure the car could do pretty close to 250 if I tried.
As for the tech, I'm loving the MMI and the digital mirrors once you get use to them are very good. So far can't find much to fault it.
