If you are returning something to be repaired or RMA'd under warranty is it right for you to have to cover the expense of the return?

I've just had to pay full insured and tracked postage for something thats faulty that I only bought 5-6 months ago. Anything similar its always been covered by the retailer/manufacturer privately with DHL or similar.

Just a bit p!ssed off. laugh

The day I ended up having to spend almost as much on the international tracked delivery required to ship a faulty hard drive off to the WD warranty returns centre in the Netherlands as it'd have cost to just buy a new drive, was the day I decided I just couldn't be arsed with HD warranty replacements any more... That was 11 years ago, so it's certainly not a new thing.

I must just be lucky with everything else then!

My PC has a 3 year warranty and I have already sent it back twice and they send VIP pick up and delivery service direct to my house the next day all covered on their end.

Are there business consumers as well? That's really going to confuse SOGA & CRA.

In theory they should be responsible for collection / delivery but there might be more to it, there usually is.
Was it a UK sale?

Its from a UK shop but only certain retailers sell them, the company is based in Taiwan that makes them.

It turns out the direct RMA address is some shop in Manchester though so I have no idea how they work things out.

In the past, I've asked for a pre-paid courier label or for a refund of postage charges on other faulty items bought online.

Anything that have failed in the first few months have always got a replacement or refund from the retailer (usually Amazon/ebuyer/scan).

Although I have recently had a faulty SSD from Crucial - bought from their UK website and was asked to return it to Czech Republic at my cost. Quick call to their customer services and I got a pre-paid UPS label with instructions to call UPS to arrange a pick-up, or to take it to a local drop-off location.

Yea I generally try to order everything on Amazon if possible, you can return anything even if its used within 2 months and they never question it.

I have returned monitors with dead pixels to Scan before but I live close so I go to the shop and never had a problem, quite a few people in online reviews say they have problems RMA'ing over post though.
