Hi all

Long time reader, first time contributor here. Well I've finally decided to take the plunge I'm going to inspect +/- collect my 2009 vantage 36k miles late next week. Full AMSH and extended warranty since new, 3 owners, same one for past 8 years. Battery conditioner included. I have negotiated with the seller a new clutch and pads refurbed (>50% left) which has been done at McGurk this last week. I'm also having a detailer polish and coat the car with GTecnhiq crystal serum and exo.

It's my first adventure in to "serious" motors and I'm very much looking forward to the trials and tribulations which are ahead. I just really wanted to post a thank you to all the other regular members who have contributed on threads here - it's been invaluable in weighing up my options and I'm so glad I've gone in to this with eyes open. And to think - I was going to go down the boring German marks route again...!

Has anyone got any tips/advice/words of wisdom for a first time Aston owner?

Thanks again.

Pictures on arrival I believe are mandatory in this forum and I'll be happy to oblige!!

(Next step is to refurb the garage for my new arrival - I've a nice double sectional arriving from Alutech next week)

Sounds like a nice car and you have negotiated well to get the new clutch included. Is it a twin plate or just a new original clutch? If it’s the latter you’ll probably need a little time to get used to the high engagement often leading to stalls or jumpy starts until you get used to it. I got a similar car a couple of months ago and have already noticed small paint chips, which seems to be quite common due apparently to the composite materials. I think cars are probably lightly sprayed to cover these as part of the sales prep. Ask McGurks and see what they say.

Thanks!! It's the sport shift, not sports pack (can this be retrofitted if required?). I paid for the majority of the clutch (just under 2k) to be fair, but owner came down on price as well. Ended up just under 38k for the whole deal. Interestingly I enquired with McGurks about the double plate clutch before the work and they said they wouldn't recommend it (bearing in mind the price difference) over standard for a sport shift? I explained I had heard differently on this forum, but they were quite certain. Too late now if so - it's already in!!
