I have 2 lamps the same and this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254657541401

I found them clearing out my fathers shed, they are like new and I wouldn’t mind making a bedside light out of them because they look great and it would be a good thing to remember my old man with.

But it has a single wire coming out of it? How would I wire this up to work like a normal lamp?

AC DC transformer for whatever voltage it runs 6v possibly?
Positive to the wire negative to the lamp body
Or so I'd imagine

Most desktop computer power supply units will power a couple of 21 watt bulbs, just been looking at one that can supply up to 18 Amps at 12 volts

depending on the voltage and power requirements of your lights (pop them open and check the writing on the bulbs) something like the below wall plug would be perfect.

Get a ring crimp and bolt the neutral onto the thread and connect the live to the single wire (can even use an inline switch to make it easier to turn on and off).

That’s the exact type of thing I was thinking about, I was just wondering how phone chargers have 5v coming from their plugs so a 12v must’ve available somewhere!

Thanks for this? Perfect!

If its a 6v lamp it will probably run fine with an old 5v phone charger. (of a few amps)

If the bulb is rated 24w, a phone charger won’t really be man enough. Fit a modern led bulb and you may get away with it

I suppose you could use a bicycle dynamo and a hamster if all else fails
