Hi,
My manual 987 produces some rattling when the car is warm and on 1-3 gears about 1500-2000 rpm slow acceleration. Interesting enough this mainly happens downhill, not so often flat or uphill.
Had a technician check the car, they did not find anything loose.
Any ideas what could this be? It’s not super frequent but really annoys me.

Hi, long shot, but on mine, although there wasn't any rattling noise in the car, I found that one of the heatshield bolts had pulled through in the very top corner of the rear wheelarch. Passenger side on mine. I couldn't hear anything in the car, and discovered it by accident when the wheels were off for a refurb, but I was cleaning everything up and it was loose and rattly when I was working around it. I managed to get the nut off and used a washer under it to secure the shield.

Cheap fix if it's just that. Lie under the car and give the shields a smack with your hand, it should be obvious if it's that.

Fixed.

For those who came across this problem which is quite common according to my mechanic:

The wrapper layer around the exhaust pipe can become a bit loose resulting in random rattling sounds. My mechanic used a clip to affix it and the sound is gone. Cheap and effective.
