Plate and weld, and it will be a much bigger job than you think it will be once you’ve cut back to solid metal.

Looks structural to me so welding is needed.

I think you missed a bit...

I'd cut it out and weld a panel in.

Just use sellotape as you really aren’t interested in fixing that properly. Hint the reddy brown stuff is rust and the holes are...well holes.

When ever I have started chopping and cutting I have always found more rust
Are you sure that this is the only welding job required

the other side is fine on the driver side the metal is still clean... i can post photos if you like....same with the back all solid on the floor as well... for some reason it just really rotted on the passenger side of the car. I did have the sill welded this side a few years back aswell (well a small hole that cost me £70). It seems like this side of the car is more affected from rust issues frown and yeah i am worried about cost and how dangerous it is...The sill itself on this side seems ok though the hammer doesn't go thru it and i tapped it fairly hard to test it all. the circle on my original photo is where the hole is. obv you can see it is rotted further up as well but it is still solid under the car on that part, but where the red circle is it is completely gone and can see the road

That looks like a handy little space for pushing those unwanted pizza crusts into, i'd use it for that.

Throw it in the bin. If you’re thinking of filling that, give your head a wobble, and hand your licence in.

yeah mechanics like to make the jobs sound bigger then they are don't they lol for the extra £££ remember i quoted 150 for a wing mirror told what a big job it was...went on ebay £10 brand new mirror took door panel off and put it on and all done in 20 mins i not even that great on cars just used some common sense and a bit of googling. .....same with a power window my wife car OH BIG JOB MATE COULD BE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM £10 button from ebay pulled old button off new button on power window working again....no google helped just asked guy on ebay and said it should be a simple job.....i even told once putting alloy wheels on my car would cause it to fail the mot by a mechanic and throw speed gauge out.....again i went online to find the right size tyres for the alloy size ...i then took them to a tyre shop then put on the car and went thru the mot and was even told they were safer as more grip but anyway 4 X THE JOB i be told on this when it probably won't be, bear in mind this photo was quite close up and the hole is 2 inches max rest above prob another 3 inches if it falls out but seems more rusted on top then under it where i slammed the hammer in. hole there as i hammered it out myself to see how bad it was before i took hammer to it was no hole because was me looking for the problem for safety i hammered all over this was only patch that went thru....rest is shiney mental with no rust otherwise yeah i get rid of the car if there was holes and rust all over as be to far gone.
