I'm after a large-screen (10"+) tablet to watch TV on while outside on the patio. Don't want to spend a lot on it as I will only get occasional use.
Looking on Ali Express and Wish etc, they have loads of Android 9 tablets for around the £50 mark. Are these likely to be so duff that they won't work properly? The spec sounds (to my relatively inexperienced ears) ok, with 8GB memory and a ten core processor of unknown manufacturer, but I'm a bit worried that they won't install UK apps or something daft.

They likely won't be on Android 9. They usually have some sort of skin on top of them and a hack to fool the version displayed. Specs will be a guaranteed lie too. I've not seen a Youtube review where they were completely useless but they often have some very strange quirks and some have abysmal screens.

Go up a price level and they start to get honest about what you actually receive.

I'd be more inclined to get on Cash Converters and buy a relatively ancient Samsung, Asus, Lenovo or whatever provided it's not on a totally prehistoric version of Android.

They'll probably also have some no name Chinese stuff for similar amounts. At least it'll arrive sooner and you can send it back if it's blatant junk.
