Door speakers quiet/not working??

Hi

I've got a 2003 Bxtr S, with the optional Klangpacket/Sound Package option (that is supposed to boost the stereo {CDR23}sound/compensate against the roar of the flat 6 :O))

Alas, there is practically no sound at all coming from the door speakers (just the faintest whisper)

The fuse is fine etc, the balance and fader on the stereo are set to middle/centre etc. It does not sound like blown base drivers (I know what thats like and this is not that problem)

I'm 3 hours from the nearest Porsche dealership.... so I'd rather not waste a day getting this looked at

Any ideas, or info on the setup of other folks door speakers....particularly those who have this Option... would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi Swifty,
I too have just purchased my 03 Boxster and have been quite supprised as to how bad the so called Upgaded sound system is, and when you isolate the door speakers by adjusting the fader and turning up the base, they sound unbelievably poor.Annoying really as this is my only dissapointment so far in an otherwise impressive package
I have trawled through other porsche websites and found a lot of discussion on this topic, one being Boxa net.
It would seem that the official reason for this is that the door speakers you get on the upgrade are base units only, and there is not a fault with your system, it is just designed to sound crap.
However there are suggestions as to replacing these door speakers, with better ones to gain a big improvement. apparently you can also fit or have fitted a set of rear speakers which will totally transform the sound quality, it is just a case of how big is your budget, but I think a big impovement could be gained by just replacing the offending door speakers with little outlay.
