What a performance to date......

To run times that would of put him 3rd in his first top tier GP if it wasn't for a silly mistake says something about him and the KTM...

I think we're seeing a rider who is going to be elevated to Alien status and receive a lot of big money offers from top ranked teams... maybe even into Honda to replace AM??

How long before his maiden MotoGP win?? I'll say it's coming this year. Rookie of the year is a dead on certainty and it's going ot be interesting to see his development in the coming months.

Definitely.

Reminded me of Stoner in practice/qualy hanging the back end out.

He's picked a good year to debut on a KTM for sure, but it's not just the bike.

Is Pedrosa still doing the test riding for KTM? .. i havent heard him mentioned with regards the team at all over the Jerez coverage , and i questioned the sanity of having a guy who is the size of a 12 year old boy trying to fix a bike for normal sized riders.

But it does look like they have found something, but the real test will be when they rock up somewhere they havent been , the bikes could get round Jerez on their own by now.

All of the KTM guys seem to have taken a step , Zarco must be kicking himself , assuming they would have fixed his woes.

Bagnaia was my man of the weekend.

Pedrosa is still the test rider. His experience is surely a massive benefit to the team, even if he is a bit little.

It is, but how 'relevant' can it be when its the size he is ... but obviously they have made big steps.

Having a guy who has been on the best team , is a great asset, no doubt, i just thought they would have hat tipped him at some point.

Another thing to remember , is that there are more bikes of the 'top spec' than ever before. The days are gone of 4 decent bikes , and the rest battling for scraps, thats for sure.

Lets hope Yamaha can catch a break and change the sensors that have been failing . Gutting for Morbidelli.

KTM said when they signed Dani his size was helpful. He is too small to muscle his way around problems - their words, not mine - so if he reports an issue they have to engineer a way out of it! That, and over a decade of experience at the highest level...

Makes sense.

Not forgetting Mike Leitner was Dani's Crew Chief at Honda and the KTM is dimensionally very similar to the RCV. So all that combined knowledge of HRC and the RCV has gone across to KTM. Yes some of the knowledge is now 2yrs old but both bikes display similar traits. Ferocious power delivery and a previously unstable front end.

Dani is helping them hugely. Just think why HRC have stolen Pol Espargaro away....

Honda have him and believe his riding style will transfer to the RCV and they have removed any threat from him being on a KTM.

It's now up to Binder to learn to qualify better and curb his enthusiasm in the early laps and Miguel Oliveira to just go a tad faster and KTM wont miss Pol in 2021.

I honestly put that first turn incident as much on Olivera as Binder, in the first turn , if you miss your turn in,or are a bit offline, you cant cut back to protect the line and leave no room. Binder didnt need much, just more than he was left. I only saw it twice, but didnt see Binder charge in at all, he just got cut off.

Its wide open with Marquez out, thats for sure.

Brad B looking very good, looking forward to seeing him over the rest of the season. But, Darren B also looking good in moto3, if he could qualify further up he’d be unstoppable. Back to front in that field is not to be sniffed at.

Brad has been easy to root for since he started in GP's: a quick study, hard racer, gets the most from his machine yet humble, gets on well with his team mates and with his team: no wonder his team(s) love him. But this year it's like he's spent all the previous years learning how to be a motorbike racer (true) and this year he's said to himself "Right, I'm one of the big guys now" (also true). I completely agree with Chipchap's comments above, I expect Brad & Miguel will be a fearsome pairing next year. Next year might be bittersweet for Pol.

WRT the first corner incident to me it looked like Petrux "coming in like a torpedo" that caused the problem, real shame for the KTM guys.

Of the two, Darren can be the quicker. But, he lacks the "racers brain" and can be a bit mental at times. Living in the shadow of Brad since they were lighties might be a part of it.
If he can settle his head and lose the loonyness, he would be a formidable talent.

Brad is an exciting new addition to Moto GP. Bit more race experience at this level and he’s going to be snapping at the heels of the leading pack. KTM seem to have given him a bike that’s very competitive. Will be rooting for him. He seems a real no nonsense rider. Just cracks on with it with no drama.

I’m not yet convinced on Brad Binder. He’s new, exciting, yes, but there’s been exciting rookies before that have fizzled out a bit.
Rose land nearly got pole first time out on tech 3, zarco led first race etc. Yes I know it’s a KTM but it’s not a KTM like we had 4 seasons ago, this is a far better bike.
He muffed it a bit today, ruined his race and teammates....you can’t win a (Bike) race in the First corner, but you can very well lose it!

But I have hopes binder will stay exciting, not hurt himself, or piss too many off and have a good season.

A lot of hype and expectations, hopefully well placed being put on to his shoulders so early on.
I think he'll do well. Not sure he's a MM beater though. He's a once in a generation type.

Once again, If you take away the mistake and you look at Binders lap times against the front of the field, he has the race pace to be right up there. Laps 2-11 had him 3 seconds behind Fabio and in front of Rossi. Mental

I think he can be. He’s brand new to MotoGP. Still learning the tyres, the carbon brakes etc. The KTM is much improved but it doesn’t have the raw pace of the Honda yet, certainly not in straight line terms anyway. MM in his first season was quick, And won races but he wasn’t the dominant force he is today. That takes time.

The package is the thing anyway and that KTM looked really quick at Jerez, KTM underperformed significantly. What's the chances of a KTM podium lockout at Brno? Stranger things have happened this season....
