Don't get excited.
I was just having breakfast with my father and suddenly he says "Crikey, what's the time?", I said "it's 9:40" then he says "I've got to go and put some petrol in your mother's car before she goes out in it, oh, I do it tomorrow".

The I said to him "why doesn't she put some petrol in it whilst she's out?"

As it turns out she doesn't know how to do it. Now, bear in mind that she's been driving for nearly forty years, I thought this has to be some kind of record.
She's never done it.

Anybody else know somebody like this.

my girlfriend knows, but in the five yeqars we have been going out, she hasn't on more than a handful of occasions.

It's more that they don't want to learn rather than not being able to. it's a bit pathetic really, isn't it.

ps. i had to check a woman's tyre pressures the other week, she was stood there looking bemused with the air line in one hand, phone in the other to her boyfriend, who was talking her through the procedure, and she simply couldn't do it, sheesh turns out that she was trying to pump her tyres up with the dust caps still on, her boyfriend had told her to take them off, but as they were a bit stiff she thought that they must have "fell off" and was trying to fill over the top of them. I tell you, women don't help their own cause sometimes do they by being so bloody useless.

My missus puts petrol in her car, and that's it.

Everything else, including stuff that needs to be paid for seems to fall to me.

Hmm....perhaps I am the mug.

Anyway - years ago my father drove an ancient aunt in his car. She had rarely been in a car, but even he was speechless when upon changing gear she told him to keep his eyes on the road and she would stir the petrol if needed.

Crikey, I must be one of the lucky ones.

My S.O. is a bit of a petrolhead, thankfully.
One of the first things she does with a new car is to farmiliarise herself with the spare wheel/jack etc. then does the underbonnet stuff, too.

I have no issue with her driving or parking technique and am quite happy to be her passenger (especialy on the way back from the pub) I trust her driving abilities far more than a (male) friend of mine who is a petrolhead too.

Not all women are Mumsie type numpties, but some men are....

S'funny how cars are "ours" when she wants to use one and "yours" (i.e. mine) when anything that needs paying for crops up...

My Mrs must be odd - she can (mostly) drive, can reverse but amazingly has an unfathomable interest in engines and all things mechanical! She bought 'the book of legendary car engines' at a Le Mans bookstall. She can also name the diesel engine type used in most commercial vehicles/plant and wants a 360 because 'you can see the engine' - although now wants a Ford GT as you can 'see the engine better when driving'. She worked at a big engine company when she left Uni for a couple of years - hence the interest.

I can't work out if I am lucky or cursed, always knowing less about engines than my Mrs (who is also my younger, at 25).

I must be lucky.

Mrs. Tuna can drive anything from a sports car to a tractor. She can reverse park trailers and likes the smell of diesel and castrol-r (though probably not at the same time). She's genuine about it too, rather than those strange ones that get all excited about cars only because you are.

Think carefully - do you really want her having a go at your cars with a socket set and then getting all stroppy when you point out that there are bits left over.

Do you?

Thought not.

It would? I find girly stuff looks far better on my better half than a socket set

Not casting any aspersions here and it's great to hear of sexual equality in the world of the petrol head, but just wanted to remind everyone that if she's got an Adam's apple, she's a bloke

Choose the best response from:

1) That would be a wrench, I think someone should torque to you

2) Is this some subtle reference to the piercing thread?

4) So that's where my extension bar went.

5) Sit still, darling whilst I get my grease gun out
