Who to speak to for wide-ranging financial advice?

Evening PHers

I'm seeking professional guidance covering all aspects of my finances; A business, a property, some debt, my personal finances and my eventual retirement.

In a nutshell I want to get my priorities in order.

Do I see just a general financial advisor? I'm not looking to buy any "products" (hate that term for non-physical goods). I just want guidance.

I’ve been in a similar position (I guess I still am) and have used a combination of financial advisor, mortgage advisor and accountant.

For finance/retirement try contacting Nik or Julian in the Intelligent Money section of the finance sub forum - they can’t offer advise but they can give you information.

For mortgages / property try contacting Sarnie on PistonHeads.

RE accountant - just find one you trust.

I'm really wanting an overview by one person, because having 2 or 3 advisors will surely mean contradicting priorities, ie mortgage man saying put surplus money into a house, financial advisor saying it works harder in my business.

It's a big picture that somebody can surely read better than me.

Most of us will have had the same questions/aim as wtf do i do and how do I do it.......big picture view.

Ive had lots of good ideas/general direction from PH once I had those questions narrowed down in my head it was then a lot easier to as to what direction I was aiming for. I then had more specialist help from IM as to how to hopefully achieve those directions financially.

Worth bearing in mind that whilst people can recommend members here without issue, people are not able to provide feedback here that is less than positive about their experiences with forum members.

No worries.

For me I would rather get as many opinions as possible and then make my own decision based on all of them. For me this reduces the risk of being given bad advice, which can and does happen. Some people (yourself included I guess) would prefer someone to take charge of the whole lot and have them do the hard work for you.

Horses for course. No right or wrong way of going about things. I can’t help with a catch-all advisor I’m afraid.

I’d kind of agree with that....some smart folk here with ideas....
....but for a no-cost starter, I’d recommend a chat with Nik & Julian. They could give some overall guidance, and perhaps that might identify which areas you may need specialist help. Often things will be linked, but sometimes they may be less complicated than you think....

Jazzy page.....I always get anxious when I hear “wealth management” in the title though....never entirely certain it is my wealth the company is most interested in
Still, a recommendation is always good. Care to share the sorts of ways they have especially helped you out over the years?

Investments have done pretty well, and I've had some useful tax planning advice.

(and I was 47 the first time I retired )

I think it's the right link but it's not particularly clear at a quick glance that its an accountancy business. It certainly doesn't look like any other accountants web site I've seen.

I wouldn't give 50p to a company with a website like that.

OP, I'm with JapanRed; you won't find one person who's an expert in all of that.

I’ve worked with Cooper Parry and can vouch for them, but we refer our clients to an IFA who is excellent. The measure being 50% of the time she advises them to do nothing, whereas in the past with other firms there was always a reason to transfer a pension etc.

That's where Cooper Parry score, they really can give you the whole overview.

I've used them to dovetail limited company/employment/IHT/tricky personal relationships () and investment strategies.

Mind, I didn't have the control group of 16 monkeys and a giraffe with a sore throat making random choices.

Agree that the website looks like they are trying too hard though.
