Not sure how I feel about this seems a little contrived?

Not that makes much difference in the grand scheme of things.

What do we think?

Sure, why not, it is a multicultural society we live in today, so it makes sense for that to be reflected in symbolic things such as faces on money I would say. Not a big deal either way to me, but if it helps some parts of society feel more integrated and recognised, then great.

Yes I think if the people have contributed to this great country then why not have all colours on the currency? I have never thought about it before but yeah mixing it up does make sense.

Mary Seacole certainly deserves it. That it'll also allow a certain measure of box-ticking...

Good idea on paper, does f all to put right the inequalities in society that the recent uprising is searching for.

Mary Seacole is an interesting character and should be celebrated.
Pop her on the banknote and it'll prompt people to ponder who she was and what she achieved in life.
A mixed-race British-Jamaican woman who went out there and just fking did it (it being something worthwhile and courageous), regardless.
If people are of the mindset that being black is to be substandard then she challenges that.
If people are of the mindset that being black is to be persecuted and to have their potential hampered by external influences then she challenges that notion or at least suggests that she overcame whatever was in her way centuries ago.

I can't say I have ever noticed this but I can see no reason why anyone should not be on the banknote if they have made a contribution to our society.

It all gets spent...

But the general population should know who they are.

Fine by me if they are truly worthy of such distinction.

It'll be a welcome and positive change from the murals BLM do "honouring" crims like George Floyd etc.

Indeed, it will do nothing to overthrow governments and disband police forces.

As long as it's legal tender I don't really care.

It's not going to make me less racist as I'm not racist, which I assume is the idea.

Nah, that's not the idea. It's just a "failed former parliamentary candidate" coming up with an excellent PR idea so she can try again for election.

I guess one problem is that banknotes are only revised rarely, and they have all been recently revised for the polymer banknotes (the last being the Turing £50, yet to be released), and none of the regular circulation coins feature people other than The Queen, and there are still even very few special edition coins with people.

To prove the UK's acceptance of BAME folk it is only right that they get their own currency.

As has been noted above, the Queen is on every note. Rather than put BAME people on the other side, could they not show the Queen with 'Blackface'?

To combat White Privilege and atone for the legacy of slavery, these will be worth twice as much to BAME holders of them.

Maybe a pic of the queen on the £10 side and a noteworthy BAME figure (maybe "Wiley MBE") on the £20 side, to avoid any confusion.
