Scrap car battery, is there anything I can do with it

Got an old car battery out of my old car. I was using it for an electronic security beam on my drive, but the solar charger failed and now it doesn’t seem to want to charge to more than 10v, so essentially useless

This is supposed to revive a dead battery temporarily, try it see if works.
Put it down the bottom of the garden, take a pipe off the vent and feed it into a plastic bin liner.
Then overcharge it for hours, the bag fills with gas.
Tape the bag off when full then throw a lighted newspaper on it.
Appreciate admiring glances from your neighbours as their car alarms go off and show off your new skills to the anti terror police.
(dont actually do any of this its a wee bit antisocial).

Years ago went to jump start a car off of my truck. The battery in my vehicle was under the passenger seat.As I connect the jump leads up there was a bang and the top blew completely off of my battery.
I was fortunate in that I got splashed on the face with a few droplets but they didn’t go into my eyes.
A lucky escape.
Having also had a battery explode as I was bent over it disconnecting the crocodile clips, I would also say its not worth the effort of flaffing about with a battery that has been discharged for a long time. As you can often get a decent battery for £20 from a breakers and £5 or so back on the old one, just chop it in and save the aggro.
Its also worth noting that if you do get battery acid on you, your body heat evaporates the water content, but not the acid, so the acid gets stronger and burns more. This way you find out later which parts of you had acid on, but you hadn't wased because you didn't realise at the time. The scars take a long time to heal...

This was an Escort Mk1, my first car.
Connected up cheap Halfords style charger and walked into the house and switched it on at the plug.
The resulting explosion echoed around the estate.
The following spring I was cutting the lawn when I found the corner of the battery.
At the time my parents owned a corner house, the positive post and corner of the battery must of gone over the roof of the house.
I have always been very careful around batteries ever since.
