New GT4 - Spec Help please?
Discussion
So managed to get a new GT4 allocation for November delivery but need to submit a spec fairly soon and need some advice on a couple of things please (it’s my first new Porsche and likely to be kept for a while so need to get it right!):
Headlights, Reading on line the standard ones seem to leave a bit room for improvement? Xenons with PDLS are £950 and LED PDLS plus are £1350. I stay in the Country so need decent lights. Are the LEDs any brighter than the Xenons and what does the “plus” add?
Light design package - it’s Inexpensive but is it worthwhile to jazz up the interior a little?
Homelink garage door opener - is this built into the car and a simple button to press or what? Does it work OK/worth £200?
Annoying can’t get tilting buckets as I like a heated seat, so it’s going to have to be full buckets.
Does the Chrono offer anything much really (I don’t need a stopwatch and won’t be tracking the car)?
Colour is the other problem, I’d have the old Sapphire blue if they did it still, sadly they don’t, black looks great With Aurum wheels but doesn’t pick out the contrasting GT bits (scoops/grilles and vents) so I’m now down to three choices:
Yellow with platinum wheels
Red with Satin Aurum wheels
White with Satin Aurum wheels
Thanks guys

All subjective but black would be my first choice as I really think it looks good on the 718. Second choice would be white. Yellow would be too much for me as I have a performance orange ford
I would definitely get buckets as they enhance the driving experience.
Not really sure on the other options as I take a minimalist approach to specking sports cars.
Mine’s coming in November too, hopefully. Have gone for black, buckets and clubsport pack.
Enjoy the configuring the car.

You planning tracking yours, hence the clubsport? I did consider the CS pack but near £3K for a cage seems like taking the proverbial a bit by Porsche! Wondered what weight the cage actually adds to the car as well?
Your spec is your own, but of those options mentioned:
I'd get the upgraded LED headlights,
I'd get Light design package...
I would get Homelink... if you have remote garage doors or remote electric gates to your home..
Sports Chrono you can leave or take... I probably would take it
I'd get the full buckets
Of the colour options.. i'd be happy with either...
Yellow with platinum wheels or White with Satin Aurum wheels

Id only have satin aurum with black or gentian, they didn't look great with red. Headlights, Reading on line the standard ones seem to leave a bit room for improvement? Adds safety and strengthens the chassis. I’m not a track chunkie so not really the main point for me.You planning tracking yours, hence the clubsport? This is FAR too much red, looks like a dodgy Northern Counties strip club, all it needs is a glitter ball dangling from the mirror
Just go for White, Satin Platinum wheels, Extended Leather, Buckets, PASM and BOSE. Also, don't forget to spec dual zone climate. The addition of a 12v socket is also useful if you need to put the car on a trickle charge.

Stuff about spec
LED headlights are awesome and the 'Plus' adds auto dimming from full beam.Light design package makes very little difference except you get lights on the vanity mirrors and very low ambient lighting in the cabin at night. I wouldn't have bothered with it but I had to spec it to get alcantara sun visors.
Chrono gives you the clock on the dash and a stopwatch in the multi function display. Choose it, or not, based on whether you want the clock or not.
Colour scheme is subjective so only you can decide on that really. You seem to like the Satin Aurum wheels which are a better match with Guards Red than White in my opinion, but the choice is yours.

Some one speced it, so I would NOT ask on here how to spec you own car :-)I have never ordered light design pack though myself, seems pointless to me.
best option is smokers pack :-)

Yea, I’m happy with choosing my own spec and have most of it nailed down. Main question relates to headlights as that’s a real issue if I get it wrong!
Colours are an issue also because there’s not one that stands out for me and there’s really not a massive choice.

I picked up a ‘lightly’ used car just as OPC’s re-opened. I had the offer of a new unregistered black car, but the maintenance of black was a non starter. Fortunately the spec I bought was pretty close to what I would have picked!
What’s the maintenance issue with black, I’ve had them before, no real issues.

The “awesome” was sarcasm! ;-)

be nice that.
just go LED lights.

The black paint is said to be quite soft and easily marked. PPF is the only answer to maintain a fairly swirl mark free finish. Perhaps the number of black used cars around is an indication of their lack of popularity?!What’s the maintenance issue with black, I’ve had them before, no real issues.
Nick Murray, the guy who drives his Porsches while talking to a stuffed gorilla in the back, did a comparison video of Porsche Xenon vs LED lighting:
