FIL has a 2006 911 And is not happy with his headlights

As he lives in the country with no street lights he’s asked me the best way for an upgrade

Pretty sure he hasn’t got Xenons, if not they look £££££ to change to, so has anyone upgraded their bulbs and can recommend anything?

TIA

Osram nightbreakers or similar should do the trick

Assuming h7 bulbs look at nighteye or novsight on Ebay. About £25 and seriously brighter. Just had to replace one of mine after 3.5 years so last much longer than the specialist halogen bulbs.

Cannot seem to paste in a link from the ebay app without showing personal info.
Search for nighteye h7 9000lm and there will be plenty.
I bought from neverland-gbp and it arrived in a couple of days.

These ? Are they plug and play or do the need drilling/modifications?

Thanks

That looks like them. No physical mos. When the bulbs arrive, note where the cables come out compared to the notch. Then slightly twist the bulb and the base will come away. Remove the old bulb and put in the plastic base. Insert the bulb in the original orientation and plug in.
Test
Job done.

Did you think about leaving the headlight cover off to reduce any potential overheating inside ?

Yes. I considered it but also wondered what damage dust might cause to the cooling fans.
My last set lasted 3.5 years, 20k miles with the rear covers in place.

I tried removing the rear panels and the inside of the lens is now fogged up with condensation. I'll call that a fail.
Going for a reasonable drive and if all is dry when I get back I'll reinstall the panels.

I fitted a set of these to my non-litronic 996

https://www.retrofitlab.com/en/porsche-911-9962-20...

Not had much chance to try them but from what I have they are a monumental improvement with a clean beam cut off.

There is a thread on 911uk about them

I have LEDs in my 996 & they're superb. Excellent inexpensive upgrade.
