As above. How do I map a USB flash drive that is plugged into my new BT hub, in Sonos?

I want to link the music which I understand is now on the network. I can see it when I log into the router, but when I try to add a folder through Sonos, or on My Computer, can’t see the device.

Obviously if I plug direct into my laptop USB I can see and map fine. I just want the music there, all the time, without the expense if a NAS drive

Cheers!

Are you able to access the USB from a computer?

My NAS was added like:

//DLINK-NAS/Volume_1

Sorry, thought I'd typed the rest of it before submitting banghead

For a simple USB stick/SSD/HD map it to \\192.168.1.254\[usb1]...where [usb1] is the name given to the USB device in the MyDevices > USB section of the BT Hub Manager.

Can't do screenshots from my own hub as I'm not at home currently.

Right. So I mapped the USB as Z in file explorer and it now shows as network storage. I can click on a music file and the media player will play the file.

But when I then try to map through Sonos by clicking on the drive when I browse, this error message appears. See network location bottom left of image.

no, on the sonos you want //ip_of_homehub/share_name

so browse to the homehub, or enter its IP address, not that of your laptop.

no problem.

What does typing "net use" in a cmd window on the laptop show? You'd essentially want to duplicate that.

What happens when you click next? Does the homehub require credentials to connect to the share?

When I click next it asks for credentials. I input either admin or administrator, then use the password I use to log into the router.

What password did you feed the router to map the drive onto the laptop? - you'll need to give it that one.

I have used the password BT gave me to access the router.

It never asked me for a password when I mapped the USB To see on the network.

Have you tried copy/pasting the share name \\192.168.1.254.... into a windows explorer address bar, to check it works there?

beyond that, I think you need someone with a Homehub to help further at this point.

\\192.168.1.254\usb3 with the router password

Or usb1 or usb2 or usb4

Pulling at straws to be honest but worth a shot.

What does typing "net use" in a cmd window on the laptop show? It might give us some clues.
