having a weird battery issue on a 10" Asus zenpad. Least a Couple of years old.
The long plateau at 25-50% approx is overnight. No use, no charge, little loss. That bit makes sense.
Get up in morning, plug it in while use it for a bit, charge climbs quickly. Go to work and leave it on charge and unused all day but it loses power! Wtf? Come back and use it while still charging and its hemorrhaging power! Which it will do until it comes out. Tried restarting it to make sure no parasitic processes. Used to play up more if let get below about 50% but now all over the shop.
Have had devices in the past with weird battery/charge level management problems - rather than just diminishing battery end-of-life - and they end up junked even after trying a new battery so I'd rather not spend money on a battery but I'm also loath to spend $$$ on a new device without at least trying to suss out if this ones fixable?
Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem with my phone. Turned out to be a problem with it trying to connect to my home WiFi network - continually trying unsuccessfully to connect. After rebooting the access point, the phone charges fine, and battery is back to lasting 4 days.
thanks, how did you find it was the Wi-Fi was doing that, is there a log? Ill try simply turning it (Wi-Fi) off when not using..Teddy Lop said:

WiFi is always enabled, but I couldn't get online - mobile signal is bad inside my house.I checked in the connections settings, and the phone was continually showing "connecting" every few seconds

Anyway it went haywire, got stuck all day on a boot screen, wouldn't charge, ended up popping it open and disconnecting the battery... After a few goes it started and has been working fine for the last week or so!
I was resigned to probably buy a new one soon just putting off anything I can until my VAT status changes but this seems okay now, maybe it'll be of help to someone!
