Had a brilliant day at the PEC today with the family driving a couple of base 718 Boxsters. The whole thing was extremely well organised and the extra precautions didn't detract from the experience in any way compared to our previous pre-CV19 visits. The driving was on your own with an instructor on a radio from either another car or stood nearby watching and coaching.

Highlight of the day for me was perfecting my donuts on the low friction surface. What a complete giggle.

I know there's not much love for the 4 pots on here but after getting back on Monday from driving ours for 2k miles in 2 weeks in France and todays experience I'm starting to think I might not bother with the Boxster GTS we've got coming later this year. It really is a great package despite the engine note.

As I drive an impreza as my daily car, the sound of the 718 is not disappointing at all. I tend to think a lot of emphasis on engine noise is overstated.

Yep, who knew the 718 4T “lawnmower” engine is actually pretty good, even the sound !

Anyone who says otherwise is just regurgitating the Internet myth, perpetuated by mediocre journalists who simply got too fat and lazy on too many all expenses paid car review trips to come up with anything original to say about the car.

Personally I’ve said it from the start when I traded in my old slow 981, that the 718 was a much better car and so far I’ve even kept it much longer as I really love the car.

You used to get the same forum nut-jobs (mainly 981 owners smile ) coming out with the same lies and total bullst on every 718 thread but I think those days are finally at an end and the brilliance of the 4T is finally getting recognised.
