ALARM FOB PROBLEMS

HELLO FELLOW P HEADERS,
NEED SOME HELP IF POSS,I HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT A (99)
XK8 ALL WAS WELL TILL I HAD HER VALETED,EVERE SINCE I GOT HER BACK SHE WONT LOCK AT ALL TIMES USING THE FOB,
ALSO WONT UNLOCK AT ALL TIMES ON THE FOB AND SOME TIMES WHEN PUSHING THE BOOT RELEASE,SHE EMMITS A SOUND LIKE THE ALARM ARMED SOUND BUT (SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT TONE) BUT NOTHING HAPPENS...LIKE I SAY ONLY APPEARS TO BE INTERMITTANT.I HAVE ALSO TRIED THE SPARE FOB WITH THE SAME RESULTS.....ANY HELPFUL ADVISE WOULD BE GREAT

I suggest you make a tripto Halfords and treat both fobs to new batteries. 99% of fob probs (IMHO) are batteries.

Is the "different tone" the same tone you get when trying to activate the alarm with, say a door open? if so, then you may have a problem with one of the door switches or the bonnet, boot switch.

I have had problems with the alarms on both my jags (past and present that is) both started off the same as you describe, the first car i sold with the fault still present and the current cars alarm was reprogrammed by Racing Green with no recurring fault to date.
