Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience with MS Family 365?? worth the money?? It comes with 6TB storage and office for 80e per year here which seems a good deal. Is the system user friendly?? we currently have a plan with google drive and the MS package seems much better value as the google plan is 9e per month for 2TB.

Also, as an aside, is it easier on a computer to download an app from say the MS Store than from the site itself, for example you can download McAfee from either their own website or from the MS Store?/ which takes up less room generally??

Thanks so much

Seems like a good idea, and it should stick around for a while, as pushing a family SKU as a mini business service is high on the roadmap for MSFT.

As regards AV/AM, have a think about Microsoft Defender, rather than third party stuff. It's much better, free, and native to Windows 10, which is nice.

Don't forget the storage is 1TB per person, not a 6TB lump. Other than that it seems good value if you want to use the MS programs & apps: each person can have up to 5 devices so you could, in theory, be getting 30 copies of Excel.

I've never found any difference between a Store program/app & downloaded one. It will ask you if you want the Store one but you can just ignore it if you don't.

For AV - I use this.... https://www.bitdefender.com/box/
Setup is very simple ( Just be careful if you have a mesh network.. Online chat with tech support will confirm if your mesh network is supported )

Every time a new device connects to my network - it lets me know.
I can see attempts from Internet land that are trying to get

Comes complete with AV you can put on PC's , Mac's etc

Bitdefender is constantly in the best buys.

You can get M365 for £40 currently:

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8837505

Buy more than 1 and you can stack the codes to get 2+ years at this price.

If you use Office at work check if your company is on the Home User Program, you used to be able to buy Office very cheaply though it, but now they give you a discount on a 365 subscription instead.

That Argos link looks like a decent deal, but has Home now been replaced by Family? I don't really see how it could be an old version when it's a subscription based system though.

I recently used a few of the 'old' Office 365 Home codes and it added another year onto my account without issue - and my account now shows Microsoft 365 Family subscription until end of 26/07/2023.

Family is 'just' a rebrand of Home, codes for either will work on your current subscription.
