Wiring Loom

Hi all,

has anyone any wiring loom building experience? I want to buils a loom from scratch for my Caterham 7 I am restoring. And yes, it requires the whole loom! I will also need a loom for the engine management system so suggestions with this will be helpful. The engine will be a VX C20XE red top. Engine Management system as yet not defined or purchased. Suggestions for this also welcome!

thanks for reading
Michael.

I haven't. But if I were, I'd split it into small manageable chunks with connectors. The pros use a pegboard.

If your nervous perhaps tackle some of the simpler looms yourself, and ship out engine loom to someone like SILECK.

Keep it modular, with connectors at key points so you can split eg engine bay from cockpit. Build it up in situ. Velcro cable ties are a great way to hold the bundles together while you do that. You'll want to take it off the car to loom it. I suggest you label both ends of every wire and document the logical connections, connector pin assignments and wiring colours.

Take a look at the following that were drawn for an Escort MK2

See what you think

Post a list of what circuits you need, can't be many

Will go from there
