Sometimes......Can't get beyond PH home page.

Hi PetrolTed, on occassion I can't get beyond the home page, the home page will load fast but no matter which button I click on, Members, Forums, Etc, nothing happens. The lights on the DSL modem don't flash, so it's just like clicking on a dead link.

Do you think it might be heavy internet traffic between The US and UK, your servers dealing with all of the Pistonheaders requests, a cookie issue?

It happens with Firefox as well as IE.

I get this from time to time. I presume its because the front page is "pre"-rendered to HTML for efficiency and all the other pages are rendered "in real time" by ASP - and that the ASP part of Internet Information Server is utterly cream crackered at the time.

As to why? Sheer server load, Ted?

Spot on Don. The home page is prerendered as it only changes a few times a day. It's easier to do that than try to manage caching strategies to try and prevent load on the server.

If the servers are fubared in some way then they won't be able to deliver dynamic pages but will be able to serve the home page.

Heavy traffic on the site is a good thing!
