Listening to the local south coast radio today every traffic report was saying 'road x,heavy traffic, road d 4 mile tailbacks, road y currently blocked due to an accident', they also made a big thing of only having a bbq in designated areas and to please take all your litter home with you!
They also said new powers had been given to tow away vehicles and also to clamp vehicles parked illegally.

I liked the woman on BBC news. Wearing full visor on the beach while complaining about being packed like sardines on the train on the way down. Stable door being bolted by that visor.

To be fair, this won't be everyone on furlough, it is the school holiday period. I sent an email to all staff at our place today (we have 250 people across the UK) and received 50 out of offices from people on annual leave.

Indeed. No massive flare up from the last time this happened. Likely none from this.Probably more transmission sitting indoors arguing about the towing fine though.

And of course, most of the country is having a staycation this year so it’s inevitable.

However crap parking still seems to be an issue.

I've spent quite a lot of time on the south coast over the years and enjoyed it a lot, but generally during May/June and Sept/Oct. The times I have been there in July/Aug have been much less enjoyable, purely because of the sheer weight of numbers.

I understand this year may be more extreme than usual, but I can't really understand why so many people continue to throng there in the busiest months, knowing just how cheek-by-jowl it will be!

Perhaps the local-ish people just get used to it and don't perceive it to be as oppressive as I do, due to living in more heavily populated areas?

When we have so many very beautiful and relatively quiet areas of this country within a day's drive of almost anywhere, it just boggles my mind that people continue to herd towards the honey pots. Perhaps its just a lack of imagination?

...to say nothing of the cost! My in-laws for several years used to rent a cabin in Branscombe for 2 weeks in late July. They could have had a month traveling around Greece/Spain/Italy for what they used to shell out on it!

Its a nice place, but not that nice!

Branscombe is a quaint little village not too far from Lyme Regis, Exeter etc.

Greece, Italy and Spain are all southern European countries on the Mediterranean Sea.

You really should just try Googling these things you know. Its really quite rewarding ☺

I thought you were taking the piss as there is also a Branksome and Boscombe, one of which is not particularly nice.
