I tested one of these today. Liked it a lot but hesitant about pressing the button on the purchase, coming from a db9.2.

It is night and day different. Interior wise I am not bothered about the centre screen argument, didn’t pay any attention to it on the drive, and the functionality is fine, I dont see why people struggle with it, I was fine after 30 seconds. I know its old merc tech but its way ahead of the ami system in my 9. I can always have carplay retrofitted by Aston Installations if I want that additional functionality. I thought the interior was a big step forward and beautifully finished with leather and carbon. And it has proper cup holders!

The power is superb, spun the rear out in GT mode when being a little heavy right footed, effortless speed overall, handling seemed excellent. Ride was very smooth. Lots of pops and bangs in sport+ which got a bit tedious, but in GT mode they are off. I suppose if I am ‘in the mood’ then hooligan button requires some sound theatre.

Felt a bit bigger than the 9, and it is a tad, looking at the specs. But inside that translates to useable rear seats, with my 12 YO in the back and me in the front both with plenty of leg and headroom. In the 9 it is now impossible.

I like the aero tech on the rear spoiler, the engine shutting down half the cylinders when cruising, its 16 year old tech v 4 year old tech. Didn’t notice any turbo lag whatsoever, the power was very linear and we got up to illegal speed without any drama or much perception of speed (that could be a problem?).

I am feeling a bit of a charlatan having my head turned by a new era car compared to the VH2 cars, for not much more I could step into a Vanq S. Is that a better proposition?

(The all black new vantage ‘pace car’ I followed was a stunner too).

Any known owner issues with the db11 and/or amr variant?

Does the car need PPF behind the front wings?

Thoughts welcome.

Hi Andy,

I really like the DB11, lovely looking cars, have you watched this -

https://www.google.com/search?q=harrys+garage+db11...

Its a really good watch.

If i was moving from a DB9.2 to a DB11 I would first test drive a DBS and a vanq.

Hi Andy

I'll take you out for a spin the AMR Rapide (if the mrs will allow me) next weekend at Bowcliffe or Kermit wink

That will make you think again about defecting to a DB11, Im pretty sure....

See you there! biggrin

PPF above the standard fitment rear wheel arch film is beneficial - from the factory they have a small patch of PPF, but it tends to attract foreign objects a bit further up the body.

I'm not aware of any issues on any of them really. Parking sensors can be a bit vocal in stationary traffic, but can be turned off. Squeaky brakes can be a thing, but there's a dealer remedial for that. The AMR's a bit better on the braking front, so perhaps less of an issue than on the earlier V12.

The 2nd Century cars are just good cars, there shouldn't be a feeling of being a charlatan for liking them - they're Aston Martins, and they're excellent. Most of the range are a quantifiable step up in performance. The AMR in particular, is about 8/10 of the DBS package for a lot less money. It wont compete on soundtrack with a Vanquish S, but it's not an apples and apples comparison. As you've heard with your own ears, it's not a bad sounding engine despite having a pair of noise sapping hairdryers fitted to it biggrin
