Morning guys so got a great big F off bird sh*t on the bonnet of my car which only just came back from a detailers a few weeks back, just my bloody luck grrr. It rained last night and the muck as just run along the whole of the bonnet now I’m assuming this is because it’s now protected with a half decent product from the detailer. Either way my previous action would be just get some luke warm water and a micro fibre abs rub the filth up, obviously this isn’t the smartest move but neither is letting it sit. Do I go with a full wash (which I’m dreading as the paints never been this good) or is there some thing else I could do? To put the icing on the cake I’ve ordered a few new products to top up the coating on the car etc which hasn’t arrived yet, great!
Many thanks
Many thanks
Just throw some water over the top to soften up and remove the bird dirt. A bucket to soften and a second bucket to remove is usually enough. Hose or pressure washer will also do.
Dont be tempted to run a microfibre or tissue over to remove as the bird dirt will contain sand and other small particles which will leave marks in the paint.
Important to remove before the sun really bakes it on as you'll run the risk of the bird dirt etching the paint and leaving a mark which will need wet sanding to remove.

Thanks for responses guys even if it is abit of a weirds thread lol like it or lump it, it’s some thing we all encounter at some point! I just used the filtered Brita water jug I drink from a threw some over the effected area, wouldn’t wash aaay on it own after a few attempts so I was brave and got my little fingered involved erghh! Didn’t want to rish rubbing any sponges or mitts/microfibres over it as knowing my luck and heavy hand I’d do more damage then good, seems okay some slight residue left but better then leaving it out to get baked by the heat. Just my luck eh treat her to a stage 2 polish and gtechniq protection all round and a pigeon decides to have a dump right on the bonnet

I found wafting a heat gun over the affected area makes the mark dissappear. The droppings don't etch the paint but sit on top of the clear coat. When the clear coat gets all soft in the sun it forms around the dropping leaving the mark.
Heat it up again and it sort of levels itself again if you catch my drift
Thanks for tip mate, I’ve got a order due for some new detailing products due any day now, I’ll just give her a once over for piece of mind, only prob is as much as I’m enjoying this weather I actually want it to go dull and grey so I can fit a good wash in haha, better yet a nice thunder storm or heavy spell of rain would be perfect right about, wash that much right off lol
