I bought my BMW from a dealer - it has had only 2 owners and they gave me the history from the second owner and also a letter stating the first owner had lost the service book - they promised to sort a replacement book with the necassary services stamped in it - that was 2 months ago and despite numerous emails and phone calls they have not done this for me - how do I get it myself - can anybody help please??

From a BMW Franchised (main) dealer?

They should have records of services by other BMW dealers on their system.

I had a similar problem, looked at a 2004 M3, gaps in service book. The selling BMW dealer checked on their system and found services done by other dealers, they called them up to stamp the book retrospectively. Sadly, there were 3 gaps and only 2 record on the system, so I walked.

I wouldn't guarantee it's perfect, there are gaps, as I say, but worth pursuing.

It's possible the services would show if the services were done by a garage that's on the BWM system even if not a BMW dealer. This may depend on how old your car is.

If they were, however, done by "An Other" garage with no such association to BMW, who merely stamped the book and reset the service schedule, then I can't think how you'd find the details unless you can contact the owner and s/he has any info.

Do all cars come with paper service history?

My 66 plate, was sold to me with no paperwork/books at all.

Service history and owners manual are on the I drive, so I presumed that was all I should be getting smile
