I ran 2 bonded adsl lines for about 12 months (before FTTP became available).
1st line was about 3Megs, second was about 4Megs - once bonded it gave pretty much the sum of both and was transparent to anyone using it - speed tests would show around a 7 meg connection.

There's not many suppliers that can offer it - I got it via Uno (uno.uk) who are very very good. From what I remember it was the cost of 2 lines, 2 internet connections (although ADSL is pretty cheap these days) and a slight surcharge for the bonding. I think there was a small one off cost for the pair of ADSL modems with custom firmware too.

Any questions, let me know. It worked well enough while I had it - it went from the internet being extremely slow to about usable for things like zoom.

In the end I found someone that was nearly line of sight that could get 40M FTTC and did a deal with them to put a wifi point to point link in - might be an option if you can see anyone else around who can get a semi decent connection.

Can get a bit pricey in terms of monthlies if you want full link aggregation and not simply failover or dual gateway / routing scenarios. Still cheaper than a leased line, especially for non-business users. The other beauty is a 12 month minimum contract.

First thing to do is put your location details in here and see whats available, especially in terms of unbundled local service providers

As above, a line of sight wifi connection can be a good solution depending how rural you are

The setup that Uno used was link aggregation done in software using custom firmware on the modem/routers, so could be run across standard BT / LLU connections (or a mix of dsl / mobile / FTTC etc). It's a while back, but I think they could support bonding up to 7 lines if you really wanted to pay for it!

Quick google suggests they used kit from http://sharedband.com/

It certainly worked well for me and was worth the money - I work from home and it made it from 'barely viable' into 'a bit painful but workable'.

Upto 8 lines bonded together is possible, however 2 to 4 is more common. Spitfire and TalkTalk are common providers we use

Sharedband from Uno is/was significantly cheaper than an EFM type solution - I think my bill was about £40 a month all in for 2x BT lines, 2x ADSL connections and the bonding on top...

That's very cheap considering basic landline is about £20 per month for each line

Yep - I think since VDSL is by far and away the most common connection method now, the ADSL prices have gone down a lot. Had a quick look back through my invoices - looks to have been about £46 inc VAT/month for both lines, both DSL connections and the bonding on top.

Looking at current prices a line + ADSL package is about £15/month+VAT for an unmetered connection so the current prices may have gone up a bit.

Have you checked all the mobile providers ? I also live in the middle of nowhere no vodafone , 02 virtually no service and same with EE. But i get reasonable signal strength from 3 using a mobile router which gives me 24meg . £20 a month for unlimited data (via SMARTY)

I bought a 4G router and got a free SIM from each provider to see which worked best. It needs to be a proper router with 4G antennas not one of those mifi boxes.
