Applying for a new job just after starting another
Discussion
so I was recently successful in getting a higher grade role in my work,
at the time I was keeping my options open because the job I really wanted didn't come off.
My new current team leader waited until I made my mind up if I was going to accept their role or wait for this other one to come out which never happened.
So I accepted theirs.
Due to this virus I havent actually done a days work so to speak i started new role in April. But as the role is field based just did what I could from home.
Again they have been great regarding childcare etc.. and keeping full pay.
They've also shelled out a lot in ppe vehicle etc..
Now another role I quite fancy has come out same money but more suited to me, with more chance of progression in future.
its the sort of internal vacancy that doesn't come up very often.
I would like to apply but I dont want to upset my team leader incase they think im not taking their job seriously and maybe be awkward if I didnt get the other job.
Not sure how I can go about it tbh ...
What would you do?

Be honest.
I moved roles at the end of the last recession into a new Co.
They knew my partner was giving birth on date xx. They knew the was a 25-50% chance we'd have a difficult time as per previous births.
So I joined, worked in team yy (not much responsibility, lotta travel hours). Started paternity leave, things went tits up with birth and wifes health, got moved to team yy (much less working hours, but more responsibility = overall lifetime stress to team yy) where the long term roll has worked nicely............
.........until I left last week!
