Morning all,

I have a small issue that is driving me crazy and my google-fu is letting me down.

I have recently upgraded from an iphone 8 to iphone 11.

I have all my songs on my old phone i.e. - they are saved on the phone.

They have not been transferred to my new phone when I done the update/transfer/move whatever it's called.

Everyone keeps saying oh just log into itunes online and that'll update... but I don't have a computer, so have no access to itunes anymore.

Added to that, I seem to have 2 Apple ID's now... a recent one, and an older one which I used to use when I had a computer and put all my songs on my old phones, ipod's etc...

So now I'm stuck... is there anyway to get all my music from the old phone onto the new one without itunes or a computer?

Thanks!

Was this music that was purchased via the iTunes Store or synced from an old computer / iTunes?

If the former, you’ll just need to log into your new iPhone using the if used to purchase the music (or add your new ID as a familiar member to your old ID) and it will sync

If the latter, without a computer you can’t get the music from the old to the new as far as I am aware and even with a computer it’s a little convoluted.

Welcome to the world of the Apple ecosystem.

Probably save them to the equivalent cloud system then redownload them if you can from there.

You could try logging into Apple's services on your new phone using your OLD Apple ID.

If you've had music from CD or non-Apple sources on the old phone, then I don't believe even this will solve it, as it's not on the Apple servers (unless you had/paid for iCloud backups/storage).

Without a computer (well, a Mac anyway), none of the transfer options I have suggested are of any use to you.

Dropbox is another way to do it.

All the songs were loaded up into itunes from CDs... remember them? lol

My old apple ID says it has never existed, so can't log in with that.

The airdrop could work, but do you need to do it song by song? I have over 6,000 of them!

Sharepod? You used to be able to use that to grab songs off an ipod/phone.

Depending on the file quality/bitrate, the 6,000 tracks might be 50-100GB.

Apple's free iCloud tier only gives you 5GB. Of course there's nothing stopping you signing up for a 50GB (£0.79) or 200GB (£2.49) plan for a month.

But even with enough storage it's going to take a while to upload it all at average upload speeds of 6-7Mbps - about 2 days full time I'd calculate - but I'd also assume you'd be able to restore/download it more quickly.

AirDrop needs you to be signed into iCloud for that to work.

So since my old phone with all the music can’t sign in to the correct ‘old’ log in, as Apple says it doesn’t exist, then that doesn’t seem to work.

If I sign into my new iCloud log in with the old phone, I’m worried that it’ll sync with no songs as it has done with my new phone, then I’ve lost everything for good.

No idea why Apple are saying my old log on doesn’t even exist, I can’t get a password reset on that.

I'd be inclined to try Apple Support at this point - I'm not really understanding why you appear to have more than one Apple ID/log in...... but from experience of living with two myself for a decade I know exactly how it feels to have Music on one ID and iCloud on a second. God knows what I did to get to here, but it all seems to work once you've tamed each ID.
