seriously.
social media giving a voice to those who don't deserve a voice. offended for being offended sake.
maybe my brain be too simple but i see a kid eating some fruit in front of a lumpen VAG mobile grill
nothing dangerous, speed promoting, sexual, or evil.

Regardless of what meaning people try and read into it. The advert is pretty weird. I mean what is a little girl leaning against a car eating a banana supposed to mean and make you want to buy the car?
I guess that is where the concerns about sexualisation come from as, if it were a pretty adult female, then it would be linking the car with sex appeal.

Ad copy surely gets vetted at umpteen levels, before it gets signed off by the agency and the Client.
So my question is, what was this ad pitched as?
I agree, seeing messages that aren’t there, is the viewers problem, not Audi’s, but really, what was the message they were trying to convey here?

Something very badly askew with the minds of those seeing that ad as sexually provocative, but id bet these types would be happy as larry should the little girl be having a lesbian kiss with another.....theyre sick.
Photo is fineWording is questionable - looking at the ad overall.
It looks like it was a series of adverts featuring different family members, so maybe misconstrued out of context.

Keep everything the same in the shot but add 12 years to the girl's age and you have an advert saying buy this car and attractive girls will give you BJs. Car makers have a history in decades gone by (though not more recently) of using such overtly sexualised images to sell cars.
I would be very surprised if that was the message they were intending, but they probably should have more carefully reviewed the images they were using so they couldn't be misconstrued.

But it's not a woman, it's a little girl, I worry for those that can't see the distinction. I guess that is where the concerns about sexualisation come from as, if it were a pretty adult female, then it would be linking the car with sex appeal.

I think the intention was to convey it's not just a sportscar it can be a family car too, both of which get your heart racing. So my question is, what was this ad pitched as?

Not a particularly good ad though IMO.
I simply don't understand the advert at all, and I wouldn't consider myself a stupid person.
I just don't get it at all. What has a child eating a banana got to do with the car?
"Lets your heart beat faster in every aspect"
What on earth is that supposed to mean? It sounds like some sort of bad translation from a different language, but the advert caption was actually in English.
It's just weird.
If nothing else, someone should be fired for making awful adverts with slogans and photos that make no sense.

kers I am no puritan and don't mind in the slightest ads using attractive women to sell me stuff. I have to sit through more ads these days, as I am on YouTube a lot, and am glad when an ad can entertain me in some way.
When it comes to children in advertising though it is surely a good policy that they not be in sexually provocative poses or doing actions that can be construed in such a way. I wouldn't complain about this ad or even necessarily notice unless it was pointed out to me. Those who did complain though are surely entitled to their opinion that there shouldn't be a picture of a little girl used like this. From a quick glance at the BBC article most of those complaining were women and so presumably aren't doing so because they are sexually attracted by the image.
