Volkswagen T-Roc vs Peugeot 3008? Need Advice Please!

Hi there,
First time posting and need some advice. I'm looking to buy a new car and have somewhat narrowed it down to either the Volkswagen T-Roc (150HP petrol) or the Peugeot 3008 (130HP petrol). I know the T-Roc is more of a crossover while the 3008 is a smaller SUV so it may be comparing apples to pears but I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions to which car may be better? Or even if they might recommend something entirely different.
My family already has a Volvo XC60 serving the role of a SUV so my thinking was that the T-Roc may play the role of a somewhat smaller car. I've tried driving both cars and liked them fairly equally, especially that you are higher sitting in them than say a Golf or something smaller and lower to the ground in size.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I'd say the 3008 is a crossover too, the GT Line/GT Line Premium are the picks & they also come in 1.6T 180 form.

Both are decent I'd say it just comes down to which you prefer I'd probably go 3008 because of the spec & the extra poke.

I tried the 2008 and the capture and their interiors felt too small for me. I felt cramped in them. The T-Roc was much better, basically a golf but higher and the 3008 was super roomy. So kind of looking for a size that not too small as to feel cramped, and not large either so as to be another SUV equivalent to our XC60.
I'm no expert on these kind of family SUVs although next time my wife's car needs changing she is leaning towards them.
Just from reading reviews the Skoda Karoq seems to be the pick. I'd imagine it's basically the VW for less money?
The Volvo xc40 seems highly regarded too but it's a more expensive car. However I guess you'll be doing finance so it probably depends on the kind of deal you can get.
I quite like the Peugeot and it has a more interesting look and interior. But surely depreciation will be higher so that would make monthly costs more expensive.
It might also be worth looking at the traditional family hatch too. They offer the same space and a better drive, often for a lot less money. There's definitely a premium to pay for the SUV equivalent.

hers is the R-line version with Dsg gearbox and it's a great package.
It comes well equipped, I think the only options she ticked were electric tailgate, drivers assistance pack and rear view camera,
plus colour wise she opted for white silver with a black roof which increased the cost a bit.
It's averaged 40+ mpg, has a decent size boot and is quite rapid for a 1.5
the only slight niggles for me are,
the ride on 19" wheels is a bit harsher than our tiguan,
and I'm not 100% sold on the digital cockpit ( I find it a little confusing and has too many options ), probably due to my age,
also the steering seems a bit light but that may be because I'm used to my 911,
Price wise,
I think with options it retailed at something like £33k but we managed to get it for just over £26k including the first 3 years servicing.

I got the base version and it's ample power wise and - 50mpg+

I've tested the XC40 and it admitely while a smaller car, is almost the same size as the XC60. I believe it's built on the same platform. Anyway, it's outside of my budget since I'm not doing any financing. It's going to be purely a cash purchase. With the offers I got from dealers the comparison is more along the lines of a fairly well specked out T-Roc vs a basic/standard configuration 3008. Regarding the normal family hatch as you say, the main reason for me the get a Crossover/SUV is because I very much prefer sitting high in the car with a good lookout. I basically always set the seat to its highest position so that I have a good view over the bonnet.

The version I'm eyeballing isn't as high speck as your daughter's. I believe it's the SE edition with a few extra additions. But I am definitely sticking with the classic gauges, don't need a digital cockpit and an going with a manual transmission at 150hp. hers is the R-line version with Dsg gearbox and it's a great package.

But in any case, do you recon it may be better to go with the smaller 1.0 TSI engine? I tested both engines and didn't experience any kangarooing from the 1.5 TSI. Both engines were fine but I think I preferred the slightly more pull of the 1.5 TSI.

I know it was a bit more noticeable with the manual transmission but my daughters car ( 2020 model collected at the beginning of March) has not had any issues with kangarooing, so assuming your buying new it shouldn't be a problem.

The high spec 3008 is brilliant and a good replacement for the 1.5t Karoq we had (which didn't kangooroo).
I actually prefer the 1.2t of the Peugoat to the 1.5t.
I guess the 3008 is slightly bigger than the Troc too.
