Hi,

So the wife was caught speeding twice on the m62 doing 83mph on both. The gantry above also didn't display a speed. Yes its 70mph on motorway lol

The cameras got her about 2 minutes apart and after reading about it online Im told it can be classed as one offence if it was on the same stretch of road/journey which it was, recieved 2 NIP’s

She has a clean license and never been on a speed awareness course before. A friend tells me she will be offered the course for one and the other one would be 3 points and a fine.

I have contacted a solicitor Via google who are based in london I believe regarding both the speeding notices being considered as one and have been told it would be £700+ vat to send a supportive document with the second offence and ask the police to take no action against it.

Any advice?

From Bradford so if you know any good solicitors charging a less fee please feel free to recommend lol

I’d just take the course and or fines and points on offer. Unless she has been driving less than 2 years it’s really not going to be worth the cost. It’ll not add much to insurance.

Not being funny, but you’re on the doorstep of an expert who also happens to be on PH a lot. Why not use him rather than a London firm?

Agtlaw if you’re wondering. Google him

Can't help on your question but interesting that you're another one who has reported them pinging at speeds in the low 80s. That would be an indicated 90ish in most cars. I've sailed past them at (an indicated) 80 without triggering them but not had the balls to test higher speeds - so thanks for being another test guinea pig hehe .

There's only 2 sets eastbound -

1. 400 yards before M621 split.
2. about half way between 27 and 28 on the straight.

3 sets westbound -

1. on the right curve after 28 just before it starts to climb a little.
2. on the straight downhill bit after M621 merge.
3. 200 yards before Hartshead Moor services.

You can do any speed you want for the rest of it without any worries smile .

I'm wondering if it's a high risk game. At the moment she is looking at a SAC and a fixed penalty 3 points. If you interfere with the process, might you end up in court and get 3 points and a higher fine? Or 6 points and two higher fines?

Not that interesting, perfectly normal all over the country, Enforcement starts at 79, so doing an indicated 80 (77ish true) is highly unlikely to get you a ticket, doing an indicated 84 (81ish true) is highly likely to do the opposite, so not really sure what your point is.

Handy to know.

I've been flashed once on the M62 when the gantries weren't on and never received anything for it.

How do you know these are the paired sets?

Let me see if I can explain what I’m looking to understand and then see if I can get more than a three word answer.

Eastbound there are twos sets apparently.

Set 1 is before the M621 split and set two between J27 and J28. The first bit though is J27, so how do we know that set 1 isn’t connected to set 2? That’s all I’m trying to get clarity on.

In order to request that both offences be counted as one wouldn't you have had to gone past the point at which a SAC would be offered/could be accepted anyway?

Also from what I've been led to believe the whole "if you were caught at X you must've been doing an indicated Y" isn't true nowadays for pretty much any modern car on it's original wheel config, etc.

They're not connected, they work individually. That was only six words so here's some extra words for you, and a gratuitous smiley. smile
