Hello one and all,
spend most of my time lurking around here but need some help. I run a 2010 997 coupe but I`m very tall at 6ft 6 and i just can`t get comfortable in my car to the point where I might have to sell it. I`ve tried all seating positions but still no luck. I wondered if any similar "lanky people" have found a way around this or can advise? I believe I have standard seats as its a basic 3.6 carrera. Thank you!

Seat at lowest setting and right back?

I ran various 996's as daily drivers for around 4 years and I'm 6 ft 6, wasn't exactly roomy but was fine, 997 should have a bit more room aswell?

I think that is about right, though blimey it does feel like I`m sat on the floor literally! I had a `98 996 and the seats were really comfortable so found it surprising I`ve had the issues ! thanks

Problem is the seats i would say. I’m 6’3”, and I cant get comfortable without either the 14 way or 18ways. Reason for this is the seat base tilt, which is not available on the standard seats, this means that, especially at 6”6”, you get no support for your thighs, and your pelvis tilts forward - for me causing lower back pain. Obv we are all different shapes, but that would be my guess.

For me there are two issues with the 997: seats and distance to steering wheel

In my old 7.1 C2S I had the vanilla seats and my back would hurt after an hour or so (I got similar back pain in the armchairs of my Conti GTs). The folding buckets in my 7.2 GT3 and RS are brilliant though. I had a Porsche recommended pro add some more padding to the side bolsters around the waist. Now I can do six hours straight feeling as comfortable as can be in any car

What I still find sub-optimal is that I cannot extend the steering wheel enough. I'd prefer it somewhat closer to my chest when the seat is in the fully back position. Extensions for the column do not work with the airbag though

Thanks for your responses. I suspect a a little more investigation, maybe back support cushions or something similar. I have quite long arms so the reach isnt really an issue but do prefer the wheel as close to me as possible.
